Even though she doesn't hail from Philly, considered the mother of the so-called "Neo-Soul" movement, just as D'Angelo would technically be the father. This is one of those things in history that will never happen again--that era, that magic. Philly, NY, NJ, VA, that whole scene, all colliding to give us Lauryn, D'Angelo, Jill, Alicia, EVE, Erykah, The Roots, Musiq Soulchild, Bilal, Floetry, John Legend, etc. This is the beauty of musical blackness, quintessential.

"Global economy in it for self". That's real. A global economy is our reality, it's not going to go backwards but so many politicians and businesses are just that: in it for self. A global economy is powered by the common people of this earth, it should also benefit those same people. The fact that it doesn't is wrong. I think we all can agree on that.
@zimasaswaenoxhaka93434 жыл бұрын
definitely, as you know that global economy is owned by the minority. Meaning it could be that 1% of people own the world's wealth while the majority own nothing. So politicians are "in it for itself" ..It is sad

"This tainted priesthood got real saints misunderstood" Im afraid people will take this whole poem at face value. What shes talking about is completely biblical and how the devil has pretty much used certain people to set a veil over society. And that roman catholicism has been used to give a belief in Jesus Christ a bad name, hence the line above. I pray that God protects her and uses her some more. This poem gives me chills everytime how much truth is in it

"We need each other The Real Gods are us. " who told you that?..there's a GOD above you, my dear..and his LIGHT shines the whole world.. you are not a GOD, bcus you are not the LIGHT OF your world.. the food you eat, came from the plants..and the plants, depends on the LIGHT to LIVE.. when the LORD rises every morning as a LIGHT, you also rises from bed every morning. when the LORD goes down.,you also goes back to SLEEP,bcus it is dark.

@bankaisaint She talking about the thoughts of people of this society we live in, and where they are confused. She talks about the black people how they brought down, and how they are brought down through the media, schooling. Majority of the people no longer depend on God but on themselves and other people. But she is not just addressing the black community...

Alan Harries - Lauryn Hill is the first woman or hip-hop artist to win five Grammy Awards-for album of the year, best new artist, best female R&B performance, best R&B song ("Doo Wop (That Thing)") and best R&B album. Her music influenced an entire generation, and encouraged youth from around the world to start paying closer attention to their lives, education and human development. Yes, I can most certainly understand why she is a role model; and arguably a martyr, by your standards, because her refusal to pay her taxes was a political demonstration - not a selfish one as she did ultimately pay the fines in addition to the jail time. I am an educator, and have dedicated my life to teaching and developing the lives of children and youth from around the world in positive ways. I'm also a social worker for senior citizens who need assistance with housing and medical coverage. Do you mind sharing your contributions to humanity with us?

Alan Harries Her first 5 kids, are by her first husband Bob Marley's son. She did not do a year in prison. She was in trouble due to her taxes. She is the first female period to win 5 Grammy's in one night. And, she wrote and produced that album herself.
