As highly decorated and acclaimed The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill was, I feel she was and still is an underrated artiste. She was one of the very few rappers/singers that did both extremely well in my opinion.

lauryn hill was never under rated though. her solo debut broke several records at the time. (many of them have been broken by some other artist later) but she was once considered and treated like a musical genius by the music industry.

Wtf underrated? She annihilated the Grammys with this album. She won 5 grammys in 1998 for this album including Album of the year. She won every major category she was nominated in for the "miseducation of Lauryn Hill album". Not to mention she won a Grammy when she was part of The Fugees. Definitely not underrated whatsoever. "Doo Wop" and "Everything is Everything" and that album also one multiple VMA's, Billboard Awards, American Music awards etc etc....

I remember when this dropped and it hit the radio with such force..what a monumental moment in music history this was..we were still recovering from the impact of "The Score" from the Fugees in 96 and then she dropped this album on us..boy I still feel that impact that is now nostalgia 23 years later 💯💯

Did you catch her play on words with “develop a negative into a positive picture?“ After all these years, I realized that she was literally describing what happens in photography as well. You have your negatives, and then you develop them into an actual picture.

Here is a tiny detail y’all young people might not notice. Develop a negative into a positive (picture) was also the physical /chemical process to develop photos. You received your negative photos from the lab to reorder more copies (positive pictures). To me this has such a double meaning because I’m old and that’s a common term we used to say.
