i LOVE Lauren Hill. Love her style. She reminds me of a female version of Rakim. Had a crush on her back in the day. :) She's a "natural" woman. Thanks for featuring her.

She is the Goat of female emcees. It’s hard to give someone Goat status when they only released one album. But that’s just how good that one album was.

Lauryn Hill is the only female rapper with 8 Grammy’s, she received 5 of those Grammy’s for her debut album 💿! Lauryn was the last BP to win the Album of the Year Grammy Award in 1999. So in 25 years, no BP has won the Grammy for Album of the Year….. 🤔

Lauryn Hill’s Miseducation album is the best hip hop album a female rapper has ever released and it’s not even close,yeah I know she sings also on the album but it has enough rapping on it to be considered a rap album also

Those class interludes were genius. She missed that day of school when the lesson was about love. Hence the title if her album “The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill”.

Check out the song "Zealots" by the Fuguees. Lauryn Hill started in that group along with Pras and Wyclef. Her verse on that song is so dope.

Since it's Black History Month, you should definitely react to Terri Lyne Carrington and Melba Moore's version of "Lift Every Voice and Sing," which is the Black National Anthem. This song features various legendary R&B and Gospel artists.

The teacher is Ras Baraka, who has been the mayor of Newark, New Jersey for the past 10 years. He was an 8th gr teacher at the time of this recording. He and Lauryn were friends at the time and she asked him to do this part on the album. His father was the famous poet LeRoi Jones/Amiri Baraka who at one time was the Poet Laureate of New Jersey. Also Ras has a few moderately famous siblings.

I don't remember the story well(but someone can tell the story in the comments) I think this had to do with a love triangle between Lauryn, Wyclef and Rohan Marley(UM football player and Bob Marley's son)....not sure how many children Rohan and Lauryn had together.
@travisbickle15529 ай бұрын
Yeah, i heard something similar back in the day. And then Rohan cheated on Lauryn hill with her assistant or something like that.

It's cloaked in that. But now that we know what was going on around this time with the Fugees. Cause this came out literally while the breakup happened. Some of those lines are directly at Wyclef. Even Wyclef said it was to Pras.
