Can’t relate cause I was always an Angel child but to those who did similar to their parents, your children will do it to you and until that happens, you will never understand how deeply your parents love you. Now that you have children of your own and they’re doing to you what you did to your parents, maybe, if you’re thoughtful enough, you’ll understand why your parents were so hard on you.

Be grateful for your parents because not all parents are like that. There are some very selfish parents that only take from their kids and they only care about themselves. I know some shitty parents. Glad you learned to be a good parent from your parents.

I hope our children realize these points as we are of the same era as this sister who’s telling her story. Children have become ungrateful even when we work two jobs to help them, give them cars so they can work, give them freedom so they don’t feel caged, tell them and help them get higher education so they never suffer how we did…I’m glad she realized how important her parents are since mine both passed and I realized already how important my parents were and sad I wasn’t able to love them more.

Not trying to hate, but lately I'm starting to not like these kind of stories. It's not like back then where there was a beginning, middle and end. The stories now a days is just lecturing or venting. Even if there is a story there's 5-8 minutes of lecturing in the middle of the stories before it continues on. When I'm trying to imagine the story in my mind it gets distracted by all of these lectures. Please save the moral of the stories till the end and tell the whole story completely. Thanks

Thank you for sharing your incredible heartbreaking story. it really resonated me because like you, growing up in the 90s, I was affiliated in gangs and was a constant delinquent in school until i was locked up. But no one understood why we did it! being the first generation hmongs, we endured so much trauma and bullying that the real family we only understood was our gang/unit. As I listened to this I reflected on my mom and dad. Thank you.

Sister. The way I see it. You were raised by emotional immature parents. Majority of us were. Where is kids have to obey & listen to our parents at all time. We don’t & can’t have a mind of our own. That’s when kids starts to rebel. Your parents was strict & you rebel. Yet you treated & did the same to your daughter. I don’t understand that part. The more you restrict. The more kids will rebel. In today’s society. Kids don’t want to go to work or they lack social skills. When my kids go out to have fun I’m happy that they are out having fun. Socializing & not coupe up in the room playing video games. We as parents who grew up in America & are not ignorant should not emotionally abuse our children
