I own a Taylor gsmini mahogany and the gs does sound better but ... The truth is most people wouldn't care which guitar you played them a song on. Guitarist will argue one is better but really non guitarist don't care. Why am I interested in the Lava? The reason is we all know you get better fast if a guitar is always at hand. Then I have NO excuse for not practicing. I'm not always home. My Taylor is a beautiful wood fragile instrument. Lava me can be tossed in the car with humidity, heat, cold and still be playable where ever I go. You definitely cannot do that with my Taylor or any wood guitar. But I needed to know if the lava sounds like a cheap plastic guitar toy? After this great video I am convinced the lava is really a good guitar, not a toy guitar at all. The onboard effects makes it even better to haul around with me.

Did you end up getting one? I have a GS Mini in mahogany and love it, but I am looking at carbon fiber guitars for the exact reason you stated. I can throw it in my car and always have a guitar with me without worrying about temp and humidity.

@@My-Channel_forever Yes I got a Lava Me 2. Was going to send it back at first. Seemed boomy and then I realized my head was right over the sound hole. Which is common when I'm learning a song. I need to look closely at the fretboard and my finger placement so the location of the soundhole bothered me at first. Love it now because it sounds good and I don't have to worry about it. It is harder playing in the cold but I'm making myself practice in all conditions and hopefully that will make me a better player. My Taylor stays in a nice warm humidity controlled house... The Lava Me sounds good enough but the Taylor sounds more airy, more alive.

I really wish you put the answer in the description box. Some people can only read English and cant find answer on your site.

The rosewood gsmini has brighter highs. Though it lacks bass, it has the delightful resonance which gives a refreshing tone. The lava me 2 has overall average sounds but the built-in system is a unique feature that feels like an iPhone. Try using a gs mini koa for comparison would be fair because they are the same price.

went to the guitar shop to look and buy gs mini for my daughter it sounded good but ended getting something else that was smaller and cheaper 200.00 and it had a built in pickup so if she wants bigger sound she can just plug it into a amp , for me though got the lava pro on the list of want guitars

I could hear B more woody so it is the GS Mini. Sound for Lava plastic is considered pretty good for A

WOW! I would have sworn that A was the wooden guitar! I know now for a fact that it is not! I'll tell you why. First, like some comments have mentioned, in 7:27 (also in 6:39, etc...), you get to see part of the body of the Taylor. Also, if you notice, the Taylor is wider than the lava, making your right arm be higher... After knowing this, I make the connection that the Taylor comes with Elixir strings, which are very bright and metallic sounding. My biggest surprise is how nice the Lava sounds!

Fucking hell me too, the sound of A it’s much more richer and dynamic I’d have sworn too it was the Taylor.

ahahahahah I reached the same conclusion but simply based it on the lighting colors on the books. the Taylor have a blueish tone while the Lava has a more red/orange hue. I was liking the Lava sound way more and noticed the colors after i already made my decision on which sounded better. glad i just bought one XD

The sound we hear may depend on the microphoning, acoustics during recording. Maybe in actual, lava sounds a little boxy because of carbon fiber material. I own a gs mini koa and it sounds great. I agree that lava be compared to koa on the next video....
I listened and concluded that B is the warmest fullest sound, deepest bass also. If B would have been the Lava I would have ordered it right away. Turns out it is A... so no deal. I am happy that wood is still performing better than plastic. This said, I believe that the Lava is okay sounding and probably much better than cheaper wood guitar manufacturers. I find that a guitar is also an instrument that one can fall in love with. My Taylor T5 for instance makes me want to play because it is so beautiful. I'm not sure if a plastic guitar can do that for me. The big advantage of the Lava is the built in amplifier with effects. Easy for busking when you play fingerstyle and want people to actually hear what you are playing. I would go for the full scale Pro in that case. But not available in Europe. A pitty.
