Pruning Lavender is an essential process we must do routinely twice a year in order to keep our plants looking dense and healthy for as many years as possible. In this video I show how to engage in the year's second pruning, which occurs at the end of summer, or if growing lavender hybrids, can also be done when flowers are at their peak flowering stage, providing enough of a season ahead to regenerate new growth and a second flush of flowering. #lavender #lavandula #pruning

Thanks for the info! I feel silly for not knowing this. I only learned about the woody stems within the past year as well. Feels good finally growing it correctly. Not doing this though. Maybe oneday when I have more lavendar. 😊 Beautiful painting!

Kiaora from New Zealand. It is my understanding that lavender is good for inducing sleep and very good for those who suffer from insomnia. Having mentioned this it is not recommended for having in one's motor vehicle. I absolutely love your blog and easy to follow step-by-step instructions and sharing your on hand experiences. Questions, is your garden young and does it snow? Peonies in my area are now available which is absolute heaven, where as they would not take in my zone for lack of snow. Thank you so much.

Hi! Yes my garden is just now entering its third season. In my zone I can grow all types of peonies. I recommend looking into Itoh peonies as they dont necessarily require a freeze. They may work for you

Your Lavender gardens are beautiful. When I lived in TN, my lavender grew exceptionally well, always cutting, but never “cutting back.” Living in KY however, I have planted numerous plants, only to have to replace them the following year. This year, all of them took off, bigger than I have ever seen them here. They looked promising. We have had alot of rain this year, and I haven’t had the need to water them. With a back injury, I wasn’t able to tend to them for a mere 2 weeks, and now, 2 of the plants are drying out and have grey bunches on the outer sides of them. My question is…. should I cut the (dead?) grey parts off and to the ground? Will my plant survive? I don’t see any disease, fungus, or bugs in them, and I am wondering if they may have just needed water )even though we had many deluge days during my time down). The top soil was dry. plants on either side of two of those greyed plants are thriving, so I am baffled. Any suggestions? Thank you!😁

Yes cut the grey sections out as long as possible and with time the pre existing healthy sections will fill those voids out!

I am in the same zone as you and just planted lavender in late August. Some of the lavender is doing beautifully and some have died already. They were in the same conditions, well draining soil? Any ideas what could’ve gone wrong with some of the plants? It’s strange because they both got the equal amount of sunlight and water?

Dude...when you do a video, at least pull your weeds and clean up the landscaping. What I'm seeing in this video is that you, the expert gardener, doesn't take care of the property, so why should I take advice from YOU??

The advice you are learning is that a garden is not a place of perfection. Never has been and never will be. Furthermore, I have a 3 acre garden that I maintain myself.
