A quick question, at what point or characteristic does the plant indicate it is time to harvest the seeds for replanting prior to the plant naturally releasing the seeds to the ground?

Thanks for the Tips !! I have to start mine inside and doing Lavender for the first time this year (winter up here in Canada) and have done so in the freezer first, I put them them in some seeding pots about 7 days ago for now until the end of may, hopefully they germinate as I was late on these and just saw your video. I forgot they were in the freezer when I seeded mostly everything else a month ago. Thanks again for the tips.

Thank you. The instructions I had with my lavender seeds said to keep them well watered. Well, now they are going outside into our (unusually) hot June sun. I shall bring them in this evening. BTW - I loved to see the post from your granny! x

I'm getting a late start. I put the seeds into the fridge for 3 weeks and now, May 31st, it's time to plant. I live in New Jersey. Am I too late? (I have a really good spot for these. The soil is bone dry thanks to a nearby maple that usually vexes me by stealing all the water and killing off my plantings. The location also gets full afternoon sun.)

Me too! My lavender grew on a regular outdoor potting soil. I planted 3 varieties and it did pretty well. It took longer but it worked. I planted it at the end of fall and now it's growing.

And here I am stressing out what the f to do with my lavender that I just got... Looking all over the internet through youtube and google. Cause I am not a gardener if anything, an amateur! The only thing I had, was some water retention potting soil, and I had some really fine sand that I have left over from before. I just went on and mixed it together throwing some rock and stuff just cause I heard that you need "poor" therefor I just went on trashing up the soil hoping it'll work. I hope it'll grow/survive....

I don’t agree: I put a lot of seeds on top of the soil in pots without putting them into the freezer first. They need light to germinate and I press them only lightly into the surface of the soil and then use water sprayer until they germinate. I did this late summer when the plants would normally release the seeds and the seedlings stayed in pots outside since. Will plant them in spring.
