lavender smudge sticks (homemade Incense)

My Favourite way of making Incense, works fantastically to cleanse and fumigate an area, (even your whole house)
works against negative energy, bad vibes, confusion and moths.
great for camping to deter bugs and just smells amazing
ALWAYS remember to check the herbs you use are safe for this purpose
some herbs can release toxic fumes. this tutorial is for lavender and sage use, though other herbs can be used, research is key!

It is a handy little diy, I like to make the things I need if I can, plus they make brilliant presents 🎁 I wanted to get this out before lavender cutting so people could have a chance to give it a go while it’s pretty abundantly available. If you cut on time and dry them they will easily be ready for Yule maybe even Samhain. Always happy to help 👍 they do smell incredible 😁

@@bonny8427 Makes me wish that I had more access to lavender.....It's hard to grow here. (too cold and high in altitude) I guess I will have to use sage. 🤗

@@wyodino6245 sage works great too I have the opposite problem sage doesn’t want to grow well here but lavender is everywhere, it grows like a weed. I’ve seen bushes taller than me. Thought I am a shorty. 😄 I understand you can use pine needles too, I want to try it sometime may be a little spitty perhaps? But pine has a beautiful smell.

It would certainly smell great but it did give me ideas of making a willow one perhaps like an eel basket? But I have acquired a new shed role and I have been testing it out, I’ve made some of the changes and already there’s a striking improvement. I’ll email you today 😁 not to tied up just juggling haha 🤹‍♂️ (and finding many sticks)

Hi Bonny , I use an Aromatizer in my House , which uses Natural Essential Oils , leaves the House smelling Wonderful and I use Japanese Oils in it ! 👍

Essential oils are brilliant one of our dogs has a thing about essential oils if I put it on anything he rubs him self on it haha guess he likes to smell nice. Oils are less harsh on the throat the smoke can get a bit foggy 😶‍🌫️ sometimes. That sounds lovely any recommendations? I need to stock my supplies soon.

Great video, that's given us a good idea on how to use our lavender which is blooming right now, first time we've ever had more then a couple sprigs. I onetime made an extremely primitive version of smudge sticks, using long pine needles and a single sprig of lavender held together with wire, they worked barely haha. We LL bee making some proper ones now thanks for showing how😃👍

That’s awesome! I was hoping I could catch it before the season is over so people would have a chance to give it a go it’s a great little money saver and a good use for lavender, I get a ton from people I know it grows very abundantly around here. I’ve not tried pine needles before but I’d like to give it a go. I look forward too seeing the result if you have any questions I’m always happy to help. 👍😁 I tried the cinnamon cone DIY once… never again… big fail. Not as bad as the doom potato though haha (ocarina fail, burnt it… badly) It looked like a mutant potato 🥔

@@bonny8427 Good idea, it was right on time for here.now we just need the right string. We're actually suppose to have lots of lavender around here but it doesn't seem to be wild In our close radius, so we're delighted that our small planted patch is finally growing do to having water at last. The pine needle ones I think might work pretty well with some experimenting. Ohh haha cinnamon pine cones Mabey we LL try that we have some nice cones that fall. And the mutant potato ocarina of doom sounds like it could have some real magic haha😁

@@lukeandmum haha sorry no they weren’t pine cones they were just like the incense cones you buy, it was a supposed way of just adding water to cinnamon powder in order to mould it to shape but the end result was super crumbly and just fell apart. But my mum burns pine cones in the fireplace in winter, they smell nice. Brilliant timing then! it’s good to hear your garden is doing well, lavender is a great herb to have around bees really love it. Maybe it could help with banishing your leprechaun? Send him to sleep? Haha I was afraid of the doom potato… it smelt like death ☠️ lol it really did look bad haha it could have summoned Cuthulu.

@@lukeandmum I don’t know if you know this trick but I use it all the time drying herbs it’s best for the ones that drop flowers like lavender and camomile. If you tie them in bunches then put a paper bag over the flowers, make sure there is plenty of room for air then hang upside down in a dry airy place the bags will catch the flowers that drop so you can use them too for bags or pouches or in the case of camomile for tea. it also saves on cleaning up. 👍
