Truly heartwarming how Rafa clearly was as emotional as Roger but didn't want to take any inch of the spotlight from him. He cried in the background and tried to stay as far away from the cameras, he even moved his tennis bag to the team bench so Roger could sit on the player's bench by himself and soak up the atmosphere one last time. He accompanied Roger throughout the most difficult day of his life, from his last practice, his last presser, his last preparation, his last walk on and off court, wordlessly sharing the burden but never stood in his way. He's truly an incredible example of sportsmanship, loyalty, and friendship!

Thank you for this footage. It really can't be overstated how special this whole night was and just how special the friendship is between these two warriors. Even those of us who have always been 'Fedal' fans were taken aback at the depth of emotion on display. And then when you add that Rafa's family came to send off Roger also, and Roger's family equally caring for Rafa and I daresay this is a lifetime bond between them all. Truly beautiful to see.

How precious it is to watch Robert Federer asking his son "where's Rafa?" 35:23-35:25 and proceed to hug him 😭😭
@cineastik82202 жыл бұрын
Also, how intense Mirka hugs him as well at 27:38. It really shows that although Rafa is Roger‘s biggest rival, basically the one who is responsible for Federer not having multiple calendar grand slams and way more than one FO title, he is loved by every member of the Federer family, and that for a very good reason! Great to see this footage and surprisingly it hasn‘t been shown by other media so far afaik…
@chocomousses2 жыл бұрын
@@cineastik8220 Rafa and Roger are basically the other half of each other's life (tennis wise). Rafa never experience tennis professionally without Roger in the scene. Roger will never be one of the greats without initial challenge by Rafa. They (including each other's family and team) are so used to see each other around it will be very hard for Rafa not to see Roger ever again playing in the circuit with him. That's why probably he also looked really emotional because it really hit him hard that day. Roger's family know how important Rafa is to Roger thus they grow really close over the years

Rafa and Casper were close (Casper said to Rafa to sit for Rodger speech) they were sort of watching for each other, for the song Roger want Rafa to sit with him, Djoko consoling Federer, Federer consoling Rafa, Stefanos really emotional... tennis as a way to bring those special moments that you didn't can be possible with such a "lonely" sport ! I am 65 this last sept 25 and I keep going because of you. Still playing singles against 30-50 year olds and beat them regularily and playing more doubles now. You are the G.O.A.T. in my opinion not because of all the titles because they will always be surpassed at some point but because of WHO YOU ARE AS A PERSON...... you are the BEST Have a great retirement....you deserve to do some other things now as you have given us and the sport so much joy over the years.
