What happened to my skin after coming off of birth control

I went off of birth control January 2022 and 6 months later in June I started noticing my acne spread towards my forehead and temples which was not like my typical breakouts. I believe that the birth control caused a hormonal imbalance for me which triggered this intense acne.
Since then I have started healing my hormonal imbalance using products like Nettle supplements and teas as well as dandelion root tea and spearmint tea and have seen great improvement in the inflammation.
Nettle Supplements: amzn.to/3k20DM8
Nettle Tea: amzn.to/3XcvMv5
Dandelion Root Tea: amzn.to/3X8r2Xc
Spearmint Tea: amzn.to/3ZutxVB

it’s always so rude and annoying when people with perfect skin tell people with acne just to wash their face. like that’ll make it all go away when acne can be caused by so many things.

my mom has acne and few days ago she went to family reunion party and there everyone asked if she was okay, her face looks bad and how she should see dermatologist when in reality her acne was actually way worse before and was slowly becoming less so she was happy about it but after going to that event she became again sad about it, so i like recommended her your channel and showed your few shorts to her, she was feeling slightly okay. Acne is a skin disease. I wish people understands the impact that it has on someone who’s dealing with it, because it affects you physically, mentally and emotionally. I had it for the longest time but during my late 20s it got worse and so when I turned 30 I felt like I’ve had enough and went to a certified dermatologist and she put me on accutane, I was hesitant to increase my dosage monthly and so I had it for a year. Then, after 7 months cystic acne on my jawline started appearing again. So I was put on for another round of accutane, this time she increased my dosage but for a shorter period of time. My side effects are the usual dryness and flaky skin but the results are truly amazing so I dealt with that. After a year post accutane, I have figured out a skin care regime that works for me to keep my break outs at bay. I hope that you can find a certified dermatologist that can help you figure out what’s causing your acne. Trust me, I do know how hard the struggle is dealing with acne. Take care.

@Everything AuDHD Accutane works for some and for some it dosen't. Even just using Tretinoin and Azelaic Acid can cure cystic acne. Depends from person to person and how severe it is. If it dosen't work then they look for other things. Spironolactone is actually used to treat high blood pressure those with already low blood pressure without monitoring thier blood pressure level, a person can die using that. And that medicine YAZ reduces testosterone which is the worst thing you can do, you can cause hormonal imbalance. These kind of medicine can cause natural Testosterone production to stop. You are under a guidance of a dermatologists so that's fine. But someone can tead your comment and use those products by themselves. If you are going to suggest someone on thw internet atleast have some knowledge about it. You can unknowingly kill a person or ruin someone's life.

This is exactly what happened to my skin right after getting off bc. It crushed my spirit so bad I would wake up every morning hating the way I looked in the mirror and getting so hopeless that it won’t get better. My acne made me get back on bc just to get my skin back to normal. After it did, I went to a dermatologist and told them I was planning to get off and they prescribed me medications (both oral and topical) to help my skin stay in control as my hormones even out. Now, with a consistent routine I was able to get off bc and my skin is glowing ✨✨ I hope this helps somebody out there!!!

Clindamycin is an antibiotic which destroys gut bacteria and so does BC. It just masks the causes of acne. I’m really happy something worked for you but it doesn’t truly get rid of it. My doctor tried to prescribe me the same thing and I refused as I’m trying to cure my acne naturally. Im trying ClearWithin which I was on Instagram, on day 2 so I hope it works.
@lifewithopc
@lifewithopc Жыл бұрын
Spironoloctone is typically used as a diuretic and helps ppl with high blood pressure and works on controlling hormones which again BC also does. It’s more medications controlling hormones and when you come off your acne will come right back. Personally I didn’t want to use these for life, I don’t want to scare anyone and I’m not a doctor but after the terrible side effects of BC on women I’m very cautious of medications prescribed by doctors- they treat symptoms not the cause. I pray that we can all heal ourselves naturally.

Bc is not the solution it’s masking the issues and making it worse. It’s so scary coming off but you can do it. BC depletes the body of nutrients and good guy bacteria and those need to be replenished. There are specialist out there who help women coming off the pill and dealing with side effects. Roasted dandelion tea for liver, spearmint tea, beef liver supplements for vitamin A which is important. Bone broths. Organic fermented foods is important for gut health like sauerkraut and kimchi and much cheaper than those probiotic pills. Look into a prebiotic which helps to absorb the nutrients. I’m trying clear within for acne. It’s essentially a multi vitamin with lots of good nutrients our body needs. I was going to take those nutrients separately and stumbled upon this vitamin which had multiple things I wanted to take in a pill. I’ve tried so many things for my acne coming off the pill but wanted to heal from within. It’s been a few weeks and it’s going well. I got carbon laser facials which have no downtime and it really helped calm my acne and help the appearance of my skin. On Instagram I follow @doctor.Gonzalez and he talked about women coming off bc and other holistic topics

Take care of yourself and don't forget anyone who judges you for your skin isn't worth your time, spent way too long hating myself for acne cos people think it's a hygiene issue!! Like shut up haha... If you can't use hormones then at least get a good diet and think about not eating sugars as they're proven to worsen testosterone levels in women :) not saying this is PCOS but I'd have to say most hormonal acne is caused by it (and ignore anyone who says PCOS is an obese disease!!)

Drospirenone contained in some combinated contraceptives can cause acne. Every month, the ovary' s side of the face that should be ovulating if they weren' t blocked breaks out. Ciproterone, to name one, usually smooths the skin and controls the excess of oil. That' s why a good derm makes you a gazillion blood checks before choosing wich one is gonna prescript (obsviously, in case that you need contraceptives). 🧛🏻‍♀️🖤

I'm saying this as an immunobiochemist, a woman, w first time acne at 30: people with XX chromosomes (female sex) go through several hormonal overhauls during their lifespan, regardless of pregnancy. I never had acne till i turned 30. early to mid 30s is the first hormonal overhaul since puberty and the menstruation age. I'd stopped birth Ctrl cz i wasn't in a relationship anymore. the Rx spironolactone, is a testosterone antagonist (XY chromosomes can't use it) and it's used to fight hormonal acne for those who don't take birth Ctrl. you're too young for this, so remember it for the future and whoever reads this, and you're in the same boat as I was, take note. it might be the same. the hormonal overhaul is the same for everyone with XX chromosomes, but it might manifest itself differently.

@@somefiend5460 it is Rx'd outside of the US for acne, in Iran for instance. and because sex hotmones are derived from cholesterol, as is vitamin D (which is also a hormone). any substance that mimics cholesterol's 4 fused rings has a capacity to affect binding sites that fit that specific 3D structure. however, functionally, a testosterone antagonist (spironolactone is one) has no value as a performance enhancer cz it literally does the opposite, which is is hindering the function of testosterone, by binding teto binding sites and making them unavailable for actual teto to bind. but, yeah, as a whole, you don't want your athletes having any kind of hormonal supplements, if possible.

I have the right to do that, just like you have the right to reply to me. Where are you getting your information from? I'd love to know. Acne IS normal, and is not caused by drugs, poison or contraceptive drugs. Yes, if you drink, it might have an effect on your skin, but that doesn't mean ALL acne is caused by drinking and drugs. Genes play a huge role in acne, so does improper environments, lack of hygiene (sometimes) and hormones. Not every person can restore there skin or "heal" it. Some people can, but sometimes there aren't the right products. Acne. Is. Not. Gross. I never called you an idiot or a liar. Like I stated before, I was informing you of my beliefs and opinion. Been there... My very own dermatologist, after spreading liquid nitrogen on my face, told me to ask my ob/gyn. I already had an appointment. I was in my early 20's and since I was single I thought I could "detox" my body. Oh, nope, my face wasn't as bad as my back. My ob/gyn prescribed me the contraception pills I've been on for 20 years. No more acne and wonderful effects on hirsutism! Best of all, no more hypermenorrhea and eventually, I was allowed to take them non stop to cut the horrible dysmenorrhoea I have suffered since my menarche at 11 yo. It has it's bad sides when you develo lipoedema and you didn't know you already had it, but compared to the painful endometriosis of a retroverted uterus, I guess having incredibly huge upper arms it's a price I might endure. I just cover them. I'm thankful my lipoedema it's not severe and I can manage it.

Struggled with acne for years. Stress in every part of my life triggered my acne plus I wasn't eating nutrients by body needed and was causing a hormonal imbalance. Wrong foods and stress will trigger a hormonal imbalance. I tried to heal my acne through acne diets which ended up affecting my mental health and started being afraid of some foods. I couldn't do it anymore and decided to start accutune ( we now have lasers that get rid of acne). I wished i could've done it sooner because I have acne scars that are permanent. It helped but since it was hormonal i knew it was going to come back if i kept eating the same things that triggered my hormones in the first place. So after my gut was healed, I already knew the foods that triggered my acne. I know that if I eat a huge cookie and whole shake I will for sure break out the next day. Through time I learned how to eat delicious but still healthy foods and treats that don't break me out. You all are beautiful and remember that these challenges will build you into who you will be. I started taking the pill for my acne in the first place. Took my period cramps and mood swings along with the acne. To me, it is a wonder drug, and I've been on it ten years now.

I know it’s cringey but I wanna say you’re beautiful. I know it must make you insecure but you’re so pretty. You have a cute nose, nice eyebrows, a nice face shape that ties your lips and your eyes together. You’re very pretty and your eyes are stunning. I love brown eyes

I had perfect skin my whole life, all through puberty and highschool. Stopped taking birth control and got bad acne too. it's been so hard. Especially not being used to it and being the first female in my family to struggle with acne

I wish you the best of luck❤ I’ve dealt with hormonal acne since I was 10 (now in my mid-20s and I’m still dealing with breakouts and inflammation). It takes time, but don’t let it prevent you from living your life!

❤❤thank you for sharing you are so brave. I was off birth control 3 months when I noticed the breaks outs and I decided to go back on. I couldn't do it. It was really mentally and emotionally very difficult to look at myself in the mirror😢. Still looking for an alternative

Same! I’ve been off it for 6 months now and I’m still breaking out. I do feel better off birth control but I don’t know how much longer I can deal with this acne😩
