The houses are absolutely stunning. I do however think that developers must include a service charge for ongoing maintenance, cutting grass etc. The tall grass and maize everywhere just ruins the place. Also as a gated community there must be an outer boundary wall with security, that will eliminate the need for homeowners to build their own walls. Look at gated communities in SA, USA etc, they are open and you see the architectural beauty. That said theres definitely money in Zim and those in the diaspora are missing out on serious opportunities

Yer the gated estates in SA are amazing. I live half an half in UK n SA and in term of estates, we are still very far. Especially in terms of tidiness and creativity. We spend so much on big houses but outside the house it looks like Lagos villages. We have to keep and maintain standards. That’s what makes a place outstanding, the shabbiness outside is very off putting. But some of the houses are very nice.

That needs the property market to be fully funded and backed by financial institutions, we do not have that in Zim as yet. Individuals and developers have to dig into their limited pockets to build the very basic viable structures. It will surely happen over time as the economy improves.

Echoing some of the comments here I would like to weigh in also on the aesthetics of the project. Some very nice looking houses here granted although I do have reservations on the finishing. Owners of these properties obviously have their own preferences but I can't help but conclude that a lot of these houses are super huge and the projects look half-finished. A lot of the houses have been rendered (plastered) but they have not been painted and it doesn't make for an aesthetic look. I have often wonder why people do not go a little smaller on the house, reduce the build cost, then do the proper finishing. Size of a house isn't necessarily what makes a house outstanding. The pavements, the roads around and the fencing can do wonders to how a property look. Failure to consider these often makes a place look like a mansion placed in a 'rural village' somewhere and takes some of the shine from the projects. Some SA communities have what I am trying to explain. Durawalls and other solid structure fencing are outdated and 'hide away' the actual house and space. This is not to criticise the brilliant work that's obviously going in there. I just have seen that we Africans tend to want to go so big on the houses and neglect the fine details of what makes a great neighbourhood. Unless you have 13 kids of course then that's obviously a need. Overall, I really like how we are keeping on with all this development work in spite of our economic challenges.

Wonderful, but the only problem we do not want to address is that a country does not develop and improve because of the mansion one builts. But with manufacturing, we need more production and factories, rather than residential expansion. How do we define even a small town? Is it by it's new neighbourhoods? Or by it's new industries?

Exactly and I ask myself the same question now and again. I just feel it messes the whole gated community vibe. Most gated community places have boundary walls for each house, I guess it’s a Zimbabwean thing. Great 👍🏽 job though Harmony.

There is still no water pipes except for the Green Tanks that stick out like an eye sore on every property. They need to build good roads and first class sewer systems and all the world class infra before building these houses. Somehow it looks like everyone is just focusing on their own land when in actual fact they share a lot of infrastructure. This results in mansions end up looking out of place; others are even doing their maize farming haphazardly; WTH 🙈

If only people could paint their walls after spending so much money building such a huge house. And then maintain the area guys. Over grown grass on the roads and that makes a place so untidy no matter how nice a house is. Why can’t we maintain standards and have true beauty from the onset? I think in general we used to have good standards of cleanliness but we must keep up with the rest of the world. Tidy roads and tidy gardens make an area outstanding. It’s no good just having a nice house but a tip outside.
