My father speak a fluent Italian till now.he was part of somalia elite force at the 54th brigade in puntland where he served to the rank of lieutenant colonel until the demise of the central government.he alongside 3 of my elder brother migrated to Kenya on the eve of the civil war and started new life in moyale where i was born. I went to school in kenya and now serve as kenyan mission to seoul,south Korea. I vividly recall how my dad informed me that things were never the same for somalia after the assassination of president Ali sharmake. I hope things turn for better soon in somalia

Probably your father or grandfather was equally in Moyale before going again east, Moyale was a hunting Somali settlement before the coming of the white man. And the Italians tried to occupy it in 1941 but were repulsed. Incorporated into Kenya in 1962.

Southern Somalia’s biggest cities still speak some Italian... most roads are still named in Italian and the Somali language has a lot of Italian loan words... an Italian would find it easier than most to get by in Somalia and Eritrea 🇪🇷🇸🇴

@@ookalike123 the Somali language was never invented. Ppl have been speaking the Somali language since the first Somali aka thousands of years. What was done after 1960’s was the literacy program by Siad barre were the Somali language implemented Latin letters so none invented our language We used the Latin letters to write in Somali. Much like the rest of the world except some parts. U can still use arabic letters and write in Somali it’s just letters.

Thousands of Italians who lived for centuries left Somalia after 1991 civil war.. now peace has returned and this properties are worth millions in prime location! Our neighbors who escaped after 91 house is now worth 1, 4 US million but we don't have any contact for them anymore in Italy. There is so much Italian Somali properties waiting to be claimed that are worth now a lot! Even many big farms . Somalia is now recovering rebuilding and has found huge oil and gas reserves and it will turn into a wealthy country like Arab Gulf states

@@theancientsancients1769 I hope that's true than. But what about being split and the territory controlled by pirates?
@theancientsancients1769
@theancientsancients1769 Жыл бұрын
@@LeoJackson98 There have been no pirate attacks in Somalia waters the last 5 years! Somalia has been taken off by the UN as pirate risk zone , which will reduce insurance cost for global shipping. Pirates are the past and it was caused by illegal fishing trawlers and the state navy not existing anymore to protect the sea. Somalia has started to rebuild its ports and one of them ranks number 2 in Africa . Somalia has Africa longest coastline and is strategically located in one of the world most busy maritime trade route with trillions of dollars worth of cargo passing it. It's ports will benefit hugely from the traffic and turn the country into a gateway to Africa . It will serve landlocked countries like Ethiopia which has 120 million people and Congo 100 million people and others . Road Infrastructure leading to Congo etc will probably require regional cooperation. Roads leading to Ethiopia many are under construction and one complete soon. Somali airspace has recently been given A rating from G rating before which was the most unsafe, to the most safe. This has overnight increased air traffic over Somali which will reduce flight time and fuel for any airline, as Somali airspace is large and extends from the Horn of Africa all the way to India border . Somalia has large oil and gas deposits which are more than Kuwait or the UAE , something you don't hear much about . Drilling will start by end of next year. It has gold diamonds and other rare minerals and uranium. Somalia has one of the largest fishing stock and the largest coastline in mainland Africa ranging 3333km with pristine white sand beaches stretching from the Indian Ocean to the red sea, and all year round sunshine that is not too hot like in Dubai etc So tourism and real estate will be huge in the next decades as beach ⛱️🏖️ properties will be in high in demand from Asia . Not many countries have empty beaches . Somalia despite the hunger etc you see on TV has two big rivers and massive fertile lands in the south which will ot be just sufficient for the entire country but sufficient to export 50 percent. From mangos to Banana grow there . Huge wildlife potential for tourism , it used to have safari parks and they can be revived . Somalia one of the assets it has its diaspora based global which will bring with them different languages and cultures and skills and help it engage the world better. It already has Africa largest trading diaspora in Africa connecting the continent . So billions of Somali money is specially in Africa followed by the Arabian Gulf waiting to return . Currently it boast to be the world first cashless society with people skipping banks and using mobile wallets . It has the world cheapest internet and own of the fastest. The fact it was disconnected from the world ...created lots of genius ideas to get around things. Yes many problems remain and many are getting better with little help from the outside world. The biggest challenge currently is Al Shabab terror group which lost much ground .. there is no civil war. Federal states exist . 70 percent of Al Shabab attacks have been reduced . Mogadishu is like Amy city with an occasional terror attack . Few years ago it was almost daily or weekly now it's every 3 months or so . Kidnapping gangs warlords etc no longer exist . That era is over! Most foreign embassies are back. The north of the country is very safe like Hargeisa for foreigners . Way safer than Paris or London! Mogadishu is getting there , till terror attacks completely vanish next few years . Somalia has 33k refugees from Syria and Yemen etc that should say a lot that things are changing . Unfortunately on social media they show old stuff to get content clicks which represent not reality! Like pirates 😂 many genuinely think they exist in Somalia haha You can check on you tube a video by Al Jazeera titled Mogadishu boom or rebuilding . That's my long report on Somalia 🇸🇴 😄 I hope it helps you understand better. What country are you from?
