This is one of the best up and coming travel vlogs!! Keep them coming! I think having all of one country in one video would appeal to many. I really respect the police for doing everything they can to truly keep things safe there. Even checking your camera for explosives and not letting you back in the green zone when you were late; they need to be strict because of the awful things that have happened there. It’s one country, but the reason there’s division is due to instability in Somalia and the weakness of the Somali government. At the moment from the perspective of the normal citizens Somaliland, they don’t feel safe in uniting with an unstable Somalia and be sucked into the problems of Somalia which they are now free from for the most part. From the perspective of the elites and politicians they take advantage of this anxiety/fear of the people and use it to encourage their own agenda of independence which would only benefit the elite. In terms of culture and as a people, there is no reason for division. It’s the exact same nation, same ethnicity, same language, same religion etc.

Hopefully next time when you do Visit, just bring Somali friends with you and not those guards with you: people would interact more with you if they feel more ease around with you, than men with guns. People there might think why did this men bring these guards and a camera. You can bring a camera but I think you would enjoy and be at ease if you were with other Somalis to help you interact with people more. I’m glad you didn’t listen to the media and opened your mind and heart and experience this new adventure. Welcome to Somalia, Mogadishu. No country is entirely positive, but we have been mistakenly portrayed in a negative light. I'm not saying we're perfect, but we warmly welcome anyone who shares a positive outlook like you. Once again, welcome, and If you're still in Somalia, you can also explore other cities like Kismayo, Garowe, and Bosaso. Somalia is truly recovering from the horrors we endured for over two decades. 5years ago some of the places you have been to were even unable for the locals to vist, but now we're seeing a lot of positivity on the horizon.
