This man embodies everything i loved about his dad and Sublime, not because he sounds like him or not because he resembles him...but because he is an amazing musician and writes whatever the hell he wants !!! he is not riding on any coat tails, he is making his own path and has the spirit and the ability to write music like his father ! Jakob to me is music royalty but in his own right !!! Keep your dads spirit alive Jakob by doing everything you are doing, just the way you are doing ! Much love

All of sublimes songs are basically white boy, americanized renditions of roots reggae songs. They STOLE.... Yes STOLE reggae songs by changing the titles of songs and putting their little california druggy spin/vibe on the song AND NEVER GIVING THE TRUE ARTISTS THEIR RIGHT TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED IN A COVER SONG. These reggae artists back then were struggling in a 3rd world country, most of them no more economically well off than any commoner in Jamaica, just to have their art stolen and profited off of. In the process making a cover band (sublime) popular and than later wealthy. The original artists will never see a DIME or worse imo, not getting acknowledgment for their art. Not saying sublime weren't OK musicians necessarily. But what I am saying IS they arent some musical geniuses like everyone who is a fan likes to make them out to be. Actually, I am calling them mediocre musician's because anyone who plays guitar knows that brad was indeed an mediocre guitarist. But! He was an amazing singer with a very soulful voice. The drummer was the only one with a unique style and talent, and id venture to say the most well rounded in music and as a person haha. And the bassist was also very mediocre. Nothing that really stands out about his bass skills whatsoever. All im saying is that you insufferable sublime fans need to face facts and stop tattoing the 40oz to freedom album covers on your backs and your swollen legs and cankles. This will only reinforce the idea of mediocrity being revolutionary in your own life's. Remember guys, 80% (maybe more) of those sublime songs you love and hold near and dear to your hearts were actually written by rastafarians with real talent in the 70s 80s and 90s. If you arent to butthurt at this point after reading my comment, I would be more than happy to give some examples of the songs they STOLE.
