How does your aim spot change if you are two railing an object ball and not just kicking a ball?
@DragonBilliardsInstruction11 ай бұрын
As in a bank shot? The idea of converting a kick system into a bank system is to have the OB do what the CB would do if it was a kick. Aim, Spin, and Speed. Unfortunately, you can't transfer quite the amount of spin from CB to OB needed on this system, so you'll aim a touch further from the pocket you're hooking around to compensate, but try to maintain the same speed. CB needs opposite English as well to transfer running English to OB. It's a juggling act, balancing aim spin and speed...this is why kicks have more accurate systems than banks. But I hope this gives you enough to discover your own feel for banking with this system. Thanks for asking!

There is an easier way, just count how many diamond's the q is from the pocket, if you are shooting to your rt, the numbers on the short rail numbered from 1 to eight. In this scenario, hit the q ball on diamond 4 and the q hits the object ball. if you are banking to rails to your left , the numbers change. now numbers start on the opposite short rail pocket. just like this pocket is 1 second first diamond is 2 second diamond 5 third diamond 7, diamonds in between counts as 1, in this case the pocket is 1 in between diamond 1 is 2 between diamond 2 is 4 and so on

The Plus 2 system you described does work nicely (I have a video of that posted too) but I would only agree that it's easier for the people who struggle with visualization and parallel shifting. For those who struggle with the numbers, this system may be easier for them. I like to teach multiple ways to get the same result since every student learns differently. Thanks for following!

whoa whoa, you're saying this wont work going the other direction of long rail then short rail? I use this system and sometimes it works spot on, other I totally air ball it (I'm very careful on unwanted spin, hitting the parallel line etc). This maybe on factor besides tables being different.
@DragonBilliardsInstruction Жыл бұрын
That's correct, hitting long rail first Will cause the rebound off the second rail to widen out. We use a mathematical system called Corner 5 to account for the change, but for visualizing you can use this same system as a guideline and then adjust a little bit towards the pocket you're hooking around. It's not an exact science like the math is but it should help you get more consistent between now and the time you get to learn the other systems.

Hmmm now you’ve got me wondering what system works best the other way around -long rail first
@DragonBilliardsInstruction Жыл бұрын
Long rail first is the Corner 5 system which involves numbers. However for a quick measurement, you can use this midpoint parallel shift method but adjust aim towards the pocket on the first rail due to the spin widening the angle on the second rail.

I tried this for half an hour yesterday, couldn't hit a single ball. It was always going wide, running English or not. Should I blame the table?
@DragonBilliardsInstruction11 ай бұрын
The most common error is the parallel shift. Most people who learn this try moving the cue parallel but they don't move their feet at the same rate as their hands so they tend to change the line. I recommend standing back and visualizing the parallel line to see if that helps. Another common error is not finding the midpoint correctly in the first place, so dont be afraid to measure if needed while learning. If neither of those corrections work, then adjust back towards the pocket a bit after the parallel shift to temporarily compensate until you subconsciously start seeing the required line Better. Hope this helps!

@@DragonBilliardsInstruction Thanks for the feedback man! I tried it again today, measuring stuff precisely with reinforcement rings, and it just goes wide. The cloth on the Diamond tables at my poolhall is fairly worn out, so I'm thinking that on the short cushion, the cue ball picks up tons of running English, and bounces wide on the second cushion. I can't seem to be able to adjust the English in any direction to make the hit on that parallel line though. I rewatched that video of yours many time, thinking damn, I missed something, but really, it may just be not happening there. :-/

there is an easier way, just count the diamonds on the long rail away from the 8 ball where the q ball is, on the short rail, remember the numbers pocket is 1- 1/2 between diamond 1 is 2, 1st diamond is 3 in between diamond 2 is 4, third diamond is 5, between diamond 3 is 6, diamond 3 is 7. in this case, 8 ball on the pocket is 0 than 7 than 6 than 5 than 4 than 3 than 2 and 1. if the q ball is at the 3 diamond , locate the number 3 on the short rail aim for the diamond with right spin and shoot, can't miss. another way to remember, just count the numbers on the long rail that you are shooting off. numbers go like this . 0-10-20-30-40-50-60-70-80. if the 8 ball is on 80 and the que ball is say on 30 on the long rail, add 2 numbers that add to 80, on this scenario, 30 + 50 = 80, remember on the short rail the number go 10-20-30-40- 50-60-70 and so on, we know the third diamond on the short rail is 50 30 + 50 = 80 remember to use a top spin, 1 que tip from center.

The system you described (plus 2) is a good one, but its accuracy diminishes as the object ball gets further from the rail and the destination diamond becomes more of a "guesstimate". Great system though for on pocket or near rail. But...since the parallel shift will bring you to the same spot anyways, for consistency many players will opt to only use this one.
@triggerhappydad65 Жыл бұрын
I most definitely wouldn't call this "an easier way".... I don't want to have to pull up a trigonometry app to try and make a pocket🙄
@krølle-111 ай бұрын
when you learn to parallel shift on the fly it's so easy. and can be used in way more ways than illustrated here. he makes the half split on the table(difference between the 8 ball and the cue ball) you can do it on the rail as well. if you have a line in a bank shot,you can parallel shift that line to the cue ball line or object ball and split the difference of the 2 point on the rail. after a while you do it while you chalk up. so if you know one line in many shots you can use that method.and parallel shift to correct side ofc.

Yes! The other system you described we call 7th pocket :) just as effective but for single rails.

That's a great point. The size of the clock face will significantly change the RPMs of the spin...but so will stroke quality. Two people can have the same tip contact point and get different results with different stroke qualities and speeds. I recommend trying with a clock radius of 1 tip, and then adjust from there.
