"The Bible is one story that begins in a garden, ends in a city, and all the way through points us to Jesus Christ." - Pastor Colin Smith
(Exodus 20:1-17 ESV)
And God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments. “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you. “You shall not murder. “You shall not commit adultery. “You shall not steal. “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.”

Best sermon ever. I have been always struggling wondering if the Ten Commandments are good or bad in the New Testament because some pastors nowadays teach about radical Grace and condemn that the Ten Commandments are the ministry of death, that the strength of sins are the Law etc... I think that those pastors do not really understand what the apostle Paul meant because the whole bible teaches us to keep the Law, especially the Royal Law. Pastor Colin teaches us about virtues, about loving God and wanting to obey Him and abiding in Him to help us obey the Law out of love and gratitude for Him. I love the Ten Commandments. But the Ten Commandments are not my idols. GOD is my idol. And when i love God, i will naturally love the TC. I do not depend on my effort to fulfill the TC in order to be accepted and loved by God because the TC are not my ...boss. God is my...boss. His love for me is unconditional, and when i turn to Him as my savior, He will change my understanding, my perspective that He is the boss of the TC and not vice versa. He will teach me that the TC are my good friends to make my life easier and better on earth; that i should not condemn myself, grinding my teeth to depend on the TC to be blessed, but knowing that God already blessed me unconditionally. Then the TC will not have a grip on me, but they will guide me gently, nicely on my journey of life under the commands of God: "this is my beloved child. Guide him or her nicely. Do not condemn him or her. She is mine forever. "

To be under Grace, means that sin no longer has dominion over you. For Christ is the end [objective] of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. {Romans 10:4} That the righteousness of the law *might be fulfilled in us* who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but *they that are after the Spirit* the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but *to be spiritually minded is life and peace* Because *the carnal mind is enmity against God* for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. {Romans 8:4-7} I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then *with the mind I myself serve the law of God* but with the flesh the law of sin. {Romans 7:25} Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or *of obedience* unto righteousness? {Romans 6:16}

How does a child honor ones mother who abuses the child? The child will grow knowing he cant trust, nor be able to respect her. I speak this due to my own personal experience. This has been the commandment which is an obstacle to me for I could not have a relationship which I consider normal with her. I did respect her enough to keep my distance but many times I was abused by her. She is gone now and the sad thing is it was only when she was on her deathbed that I was able to say the words, that I loved her. I think under normal circumstances with a nurturing mother can love be expressed openly. Anyway this commandment was one I had a hard time honoring due to the nature of this parent.

I would like to interpret it as loving and honoring the position God has kept her in . I had a hard time forgiving people but then, God forgave me and made a sinner like me his own. Now, who am I or what right do I have to nor forgive someone.
