Her character fights for patriarchy. She is consoling someone who helped murder their child. He was apart of the dehumanizing of this child and continued the act.

I see her “consoling” as just another tatic to get him to confess to what he did, which is what she was attempting to get him to do for the whole duration of the episode might I add. Olivia was buttering him up so to speak. . . and it worked seeing as how he testified right at the end.

SPOILERS (just in case) Mack handed over the evidence he hid, which had the perp's DNA, and confessed the truth under Carisi's questioning to the Grand Jury. The perp was later sentenced to a total of 25 years and is probably gonna get more than that after it's discovered he hurt eight more victims in Germany.

I heard what benson told him that she had to arrest him but if his mother did that she wouldn't have done anything she won't arrest a woman she hasn't arrested more then three women since stabler left 12 years ago for her woman are above the law. I give you last week as an example the woman gets arrested and benson let's her get away not surprised in the least the woman hates men did you hear the way she talked to that woman she she let get away last week if it was a man we would've been reminded no chance of bail
