It's because he doesn't elevate cops above being able to do something like this, his "fight the man" personality means his potential suspect pool includes everyone, most cops think their colleagues are all saints so mentally exclude them

There’s another episode in season 2 where another small observation helped him trick a suspect into a confession. He gave a suspect his number if she wanted to talk and ended up confessing to the crime because he gave her the attention she craved (the suspect was accused of abusing her own child for attention). While she spilled out all of the crime details, he sat calmly and listened. One of his top moments.

@@andyt2k "most cops think their colleagues are all saints" I work Social Services, but my department has a lot of experience with with Sheriffs/Police departments. That "thin blue line" bs is exactly that; bs. Cops inform on each other as much (if not more) than criminals. The real issue is that in order to take one down, the IA investigator has to have smoking gun, high-def evidence of the claim. Otherwise, they can only do a time sensitive investigation and hope either the cop being investigated either screwed up some paperwork or gets a guilty conscience.

Why Rest in Power? That's reserved for people who dedicated their lives to a cause or died from oppression of some kind and so are believed to be unable to have peace, even after death. I definitely get the complaint but I always took it as…. We all have friend groups, and in those groups we make extremely harsh jokes towards one another, but it’s fine because we’re all really good friends. But if someone else says it we give them hell, because they’re not in the friend group. Or like women can playfully call themselves Bs & Hs and that be okay as long as they’re friends or in good will. But won’t tolerate that disrespect from a man. Or…. lol, how I can say the N-word with impunity, and I can be at a family gathering and hear that word left to right, but if you’re a counterpart. We may have problems. Etc etc

We didn't need to see it, if we did, we would WATCH THE SHOW...real fans don't spoil things for other fans who hasn't seen every episode yet. And a fan is a fan even if they have to work most their life away, so they save the episodes for the time they do get off. But you don't seem to understand copywrite and if you show too much of one episode your whole channel can get demonetized and blocked. But heck why not play the full episode? They shouldn't be paid because they uploaded clips of something copywrite. Should just be demonetized and show the whole episode...if you're really a true fan, you would do this yourself instead of telling us about two seconds that didn't pertain to the plot

This all will depend on the judge. I've seen it where officers have went to talk to family of a suspect, found him there with a random book bag, and searched it to find evidence. Judge said it was a no go, that the officers had no reasonable suspicion to search the man. In this case, the evidence was reasonably in sight and the detectives have cause to take them due to the previous input from the store owner (that being only 12 pairs sold). BUT, it is up to the judge in the end.

something about this show that makes me think its the same episode over and over again. Same thing about CIS, after you seen enough, they all seem like the same episode. Same thing with things like House...it was good but making episodes like this isn't good if there is multiple seasons and not enough to differentiate each other outside the "guest" actors.

@@ForageGardener None of the evidence tied to him, otherwise they would have already arrested him. A theory about how the perp held his flashlight and that his mother was a prost and she neglected him isn't really "evidence". But hey, they needed to wrap things up quickly and get back to the main case, and fortunately, the cop was all too happy to oblige. Crappy writing.

This show would introduce an interesting concept or idea like having this decade long killer cop but drop it for the perp for the first crime to be some dude. And they never go back to the killer cop Incomplete storytelling

Why would you need a search warrant for something in plain sight? If Benson and Stabler took him in for questioning, they had plenty of time to get a warrant to have him remove his shoes and test them for traces of blood.

The way they automatically assumed the girl to be a prostitute because she was "dressed provocatively" is beyond gross. What do they think girls wear to go partying? I've definitely been trying to find my way home after a night out half dressed and watching my back for this exact reason, especially since the train station I take in NY has turned into (or perhaps always was) a red light district. This episode gets me more than most others because the victim could be *me.* Right down to "the package doesn't match the wrapping". I was surprised to see that SVU actually took on this specific dynamic.
