⚡️We check off a HUGE step on the long list of baby “to-do’s!” Our little baby’s nursery is finally complete! It was so fun putting this whole room together as we wanted to keep it minimal, baby friendly, and easy to transition to a toddler room when that time comes! As first time parents were not sure if we did this right… so you have to help us out! What are missing? What did we do right, and most importantly, where did we mess up? 😬
Thank you for coming on this ride with us as we are just weeks away from introducing baby Bates to his new room!

Hey guys, one word of advice from a mom of 3 and grandma of nine don't tiptoe around and be quiet when he gets here let him get used to noises he'll get used to it and won't wake up with every little noise he hears .The nursery looks beautiful 😍

The best practical piece of advice I was ever given was to make up your crib with a mattress protecter & the crib sheet AND THEN one more mattress protecter & crib sheet. That way, in the middle of the night, if you need to change bedding, all you have to do is take off the dirty ones & the crib is already re made 👍

Don’t forget to sign up for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. She sends an age appropriate book once a month from birth to age 5. We signed my grandson up when he was born. He will be 5 in September and he has gotten a lot of really cool books.

Mom of 9 here, it’s amazing how much babies do not need! But my number one thing is a baby carrier, especially a wrap. If you want to get things done, the wrap becomes your best friend but you have to start using it early. They will love it if you do.❤

Yep! And if one wrap doesn't work, don't be afraid to try a few different kinds. The two that ended up working for me was the ergo baby and an old fashioned linen sling wrap. But there are so many wraps out there to try out.

@@matanotofeden999 true and I like my ergo when baby gets older and harder to carry as I need the structure vs the wrap when they are under 4 months :)

You guys don’t need to have the mattress at that level until the child stands up. Put it on the highest notch for a newborn that way you’re not bending over and trying to get to the baby and it’s so much easier to have him that arms reach.

🎉 This is a FABulous idea!! Even as a 63 yo, I have a 15 watt bulb in a living room lamp that stays on 24/7/365. Why? I’ve been a fall risk a few yrs now and just grew tired of switching things on & off! This way I always see the pets, their toys, or a pr of shoes left somewhere!

A must have is the co sleeper . It attaches to your bed and the baby sleeps in that. When tiff needs to nurse in the middle of the night he will be right there and the side comes up for easy access. Keep diapers and wipes in every room in the house and in your cart. Especially right next to dad’s side of the bed so Lawson can change before tiff feeds. The last one is huge for me when my first born was just a baby. There was a fire in the complex we were at, and we had to get out quickly. Having that diaper bag completely packed with anything you could possibly need for the baby all the time , made it really easy for me to be able to grab it and not worry about her needs. At least she would have everything she needed for 24 hours.

I remember when I was around 6 years old (now 57); my sister was about 1 year (she’s 51); we shared a room. My sister was standing in her crib. My mom was directly across the hall in the bathroom. She happened to see my sister leaning over the crib rail and flip over the side. I still remember my mom managed to make it to the crib and catch my sister just before she hit the floor. I don’t think my mom has moved that fast since then 😂

The nursery is ADORABLE! A couple pieces of advice: Somehow bolt the dresser to the floor and/or wall so that when Baby Boy Bates begins standing up and holding onto things if he has hold of the dresser or dresser drawer it won't topple over on him. Also, tie blind strings WAY up where he can't reach them and accidentally get caught in them or pull the blinds down on him. You guys have done a GREAT job! Excited for you and sending God's blessings.

A crib doesn't need set up prior to baby coming home. You're going to use a bassinett in your room for the first few weeks. If your budget doesn't allow for that, a pack-n-play, will work, also the car seat will work or a dresser drawer. We did the dresser drawer for a few weeks.

Hope baby isn't affected with pollen allergies...just sayin'. You can never have too many books for baby. Dr. Seuss is always a winner. Must admit my two boys L.O.V.E.D. Go Dog Go, and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish, were their favorites!!!

Bows on the socks are super cute… like little bow ties. As soon as baby is crawling or pulling up, he will get into or even tip your cart, but it’s great for the first 6 months. Portable white noise, so you can take the same musical sounds wherever you go. You cannot over hold/rock/love baby, but it’s ok for him to cry a few minutes while you’re having a quick shower

@Ane0803 26 күн бұрын
For those mentioning a changing station, there appears to be a Keekaroo (a very popular wipeable peanut shaped changing pad) leaning against the dresser. Presuming the dresser will double as a changing station. Though, let’s face it, most babies get diaper changes wherever they are; on the bed, floor, sofa, etc.. 😅

As long as everything you do is with love, you can't go wrong. I had just the basics for my baby girl (48+yrs.ago). A good crib and mattress. Decent mattress pads, sheets, soft, hooded baby towels (& wash cloths). I had a bassinet to keep downstairs ( 2 story apt.). She slept in her crib, which was in my bedroom, until she was older and then I moved her to her own room. I also had a walker and highchair when she was able to sit up. Bottom line, babies don't need much. Much of the extra stuff is what makes it easier for you both. You will easily discover that. In closing, the main thing your baby needs is love ❤️. You both got this! Relax and enjoy your baby. He will let you know what he needs. You WILL know his "language". Love and Blessings for all of you ❤️

I would add a little three tiered cart next to your chair in your baby room ,you’ll be spending time in there. On that cart I would keep essentials that you need things like granola bars , snacks for yourself ,water ,lotions for yourself ,tissues ,earbuds , book, just essentials for you that way you don’t have to get up and down and up and down when you’re feeding the baby or just snuggling with the baby or trying to put baby to sleep, fill that thing up.

I just had my first, and one of the best things I have used is a bedside “cosleeper bassinet”. It has been the best thing for the first few months because you’re so tired and sleep deprived that having baby right next to my bed and not even having to get out of bed for nighttime feedings was amazing. It also gave me peace of mind having baby within arms reach and looking over and knowing they’re ok in the night.

Suggestion for baby room: Go up with some shelving. Put a wide white shelf above trim over closet+ entry door+ put things you rarely need. Or maybe all decor. If that's too high, use a different wall for a shelf. Gifts will likely be pouring in the first month or so, so space needed. Bless your heart Lawson for being so excited to be a Dad. A year from now (or less) your son will be pulling your sign down. Frame it + move it close to crib where he can't reach. Tiffany looks tired. Keep rested. Put feet up as ankles can swell. God bless. my little guy came 2 weeks early. i was so grateful because there was no room left in there for him. i was told so many times “you will never have everything done before he gets here”, i had mostly everything done. you are more than prepared for baby bates. i learned- a lot of the things you think you need, you don’t actually need, the books are always right- every child is different, children are not protocols- every child is different, don’t sweat the small stuff, the dishes/housework will be there- don’t miss out on the smallest milestones. i have only been away from my child for a couple days in his life. i didn’t want other people to raise him- daycare and such. i have such a great bond with my child because of all these things

Teen girl here! I noticed I didn’t see a changing table and I know those are pretty helpful so I thought I’d mention it here! Also The Tale of Three Trees was my most favorite book when I was little. If you’re looking for good Christian baby and toddler books, it is a must read! I did have a crib when I was little. My fam is kinda wild and decided to move from CA, US to Kenya, Africa when was was about 2. So idk if my crib made it there for my brother to use but I did have an epic race car bed that had drawers in the sides that I got to pick out myself.😊 Love your videos and praying for a healthy baby boy!

I had 2 whole drawers of blankets bc they spit up on them or they get dirty and you just switch them out ! Keep a little kaddy with diapers clothes wipe’ and one of those mats you can change the baby on bc it’s easier to just have it close so you don’t need to go to the changing table constantly lol

Favorite part of the vlog: Tiffany talking about assembling the furniture! I’m crying. So. Funny. 😂 …I’m a Momma of two daughters. Best advice…Teach your children to have a relationship with God; Love them unconditionally & completely; Show them how to live, love, & make choices by your example; Find what works best for your family & go with it in peace. Everything else will even out in time. ❤️ Enjoy your children. They are treasures from our great God. Every new stage is always my favorite! I remember rocking my sweet babies, praying over them, & singing to them as they fell asleep smiling up at me. It feels like it was five minutes ago. ❤ Now we get to snuggle, giggle together, & adventure together in all new ways. New stage, new joy! It’s the best! ❤️ Favorite baby items: Baby Bjorn carrier; a long nursing shawl that can tuck into the carrier so you can nurse on the go & baby can nap on the go; & sleep sacks are fabulous! 🥰 …So happy for y’all! ❤️🥰

I have a 3 year old and a 10 month old. Things i have found is that everyone will give you great advice but also trust yourself. What works for you may not work for another. a few things we found is 1. In the nursery you need counter space (shelves etc) and a table next to the rocker to keep a glass or mug on for you while you rock baby. 2. Babies are able to adjust to more than you think so let them adjust to you not you to them. 3. Make sure you take the time for each other. A chat over tea/hot chocolate or dinner. Don't become 2 people passing in the night. 4. If you have small gap behind any furniture (dresser) get a pool noodle and put it between the wall and the furniture, it helps with things falling behind it.

I’m so excited about your new arrival of a beautiful boy . My only suggestions are room darkening curtains and no noise machines. Baby Bates will adjust to natural noise. I’m praying for you all!

For all 4 of my babies my swing was really helpful. we had swing that goes back and forth and then you can turn it and it goes side to side. some babies like back and forth and some babies like side to side and you just don't know which your baby will be until he comes. one of my babies was a back and forth baby but the other three were side to side baby so it was good that we had a swing that did both.

I can’t wait to see what he going to look like. You need a change table and basket net for side of your bed. Cute room.

Do you have a baby sling yet? I would really recommend it as it frees up your hands especially if you have a fussy baby that only stops crying when they are being held. You strap your baby to you and your off to do whatever it is you need to,worth every penny!

A diaper genie pail is essential to prevent nasty diaper smells! I have a 6 month old and it’s great. Congratulations!

Or there’s the garbage bin. No need to spend money where it’s not needed. Baby’s nappies dont smell that bad for the first 6 or 7 mths until they are having solid food as long as you bag them carefully and put them directly in the garbage.

White noise machine, or something to create sounds- to get baby used to noise while they sleep, so that way he’ll be used to it if he isn’t able to sleep in a quiet area. Good luck you’ll both be fantastic parents !

I LOVE THE QUIlT! I love elephants and I just think it’s so beautiful. Tiffany hearing the story about your 81 or 82 year old grandmother made me think of my granny who passed away last year. She always crocheted us blankets and I still have all my mine and I wish cherish them forever. I love family keepsakes. This little boy is so blessed with such great parents and a great family. Sending lots of love and prayers for y’all. Hope everything goes well ❤️

A nice gentle light and as the last comment says don’t worry about making noise. Also the first few weeks aren’t totally as in a movie you do second guess yourselves, especially if you can’t work out what they want but it’s normal and you soon get into a routine, enjoy every minute they are not little for long. Love and prayers x

My husband is a carpenter so he built our children’s crib. Our children are 9 & 7 now, we still have the crib in the attic. I have plans for it later when we have the room…. Or… hand it down to the first grandbaby.
