GOODBYE USA 👋🏼 As we continue our “Where in the World Have We Been” series, we take you with us to the Netherlands, Germany and more! History comes to life as we visit Corrie Ten Boom’s “The Hiding Place”, a stunning town in Holland where the pilgrims lived, as well as and the oldest city in Germany! Walk with us underneath an ancient amphitheater, where gladiators fought, visit historical locations from World War II, and eat at the yummiest restaurants of in Europe!
Have you been to Europe? Comment your favorite spots from the video, and let us know where you’d love us to visit next!
Thanks for watching!

I lived in Bamberg, Germany while my husband was in the army. Traveled to Holland, France and lots of castles and churches. Fun to soak it in again. I saw AnneFranks house where she was hidden. Quit sobering.

If you like history, you have to wonder who/why these elaborate “castles and churches” were built. There is more to it than what we are taught. I’ve been there and to many other castles and churches. It makes you question a lot of our “history”. Cool video!

CASTLE is just a word descriptive of homes for the wealthy in the past. They are EVERYWHERE in Europe. Contrary to fairy tales, Castles were not just housing for royal personages; they were simply homes for the "upper classes"

The Pilgrim Fathers actually came to the Dutch Republic to live there and did, because it had relgious freedom. But those puritans didn't like the religious freedom for others too, especially concerning morals and love and the Dutch protestant's society on their children. They were puritans after all, it was religious freedom they fled from. The Dutch influence on the USA is mostly through New Amsterdam/NYC, with it's capitalism, mutlireligious, multicultural melting pot and upward social mobility. That all came from the Dutch. Haarlem, the first city you were, gave it's name to Harlem. The Pennsylvania Dutch are Deutsch, from Germany. The current Dutch used to be called the Nederdiets, Niederdeutsch, Netherducht, as opposed to all the upstream German peoples, it was a very general term. The Dutch took the name in English because the British kept running into the Netherdutch of the Dutch Republic all over the world because the Dutch were the biggest traders in the world between at least 1600 and 1800.

Again thank you so much!!! ❤❤ Corrie ten Boom and her family were very brave to do what they did to save the Jewish people!! ❤ You have to stop and consider some of the ages of those churches also. They didn’t have the machinery we have today in building and just look at how beautiful they are!!!!!

If you’re into history maybe doing genealogical research would be interesting for you! Seeing what exact countries and places your ancestors came from, put in historical context why and when they left for the new world, where they settled and how their lives went- this can be quite fascinating. Maybe you could create a bucket list and visit those places eventually!

I so so love this channel, you should really think about changing the name to Lawson and Tiffany adventures. I hope you are coming to the UK. If not this time, then sometime next year as if you love your history castles and cathedrals. You will love the York minster. And all the castles thoughts and ruins all over the UK. Plus the ones in Scotland and Wales. Lawson, I’m sure I’ve said this before your thirst for knowledge is amazing and I love how you to embrace every country you visit. I remember your mum saying that she loves to travel. I would love you to to take your mum on a whistlestop tour of Europe I’m sure mama be worth Lovett her reactions would be amazing to see on camera. also, as I know you two are so adventurous, you have to do a safari in South Africa or Kenya or maybe even Namibia. Lawson, you mixed up a your history when talking about Pennsylvania Dutch and the Pilgrims. Pennsylvania Dutch has nothing to do with the Netherlands. The Pennsylvania Dutch speakers are originally descendants of early German-speaking immigrants who arrived in Pennsylvania in the 1700s and 1800s to escape religious persecution in Europe. It would actually be more correct to call the language Pennsylvania German, which many scholars do. Also, being Pennsylvania Dutch doesn't necessarily equate to being Amish; they are a cultural group which share some cultural practices but have various religious beliefs and lifestyles. Most of the earliest Amish arrivals came from the Swiss/Alsace region where various German dialects are spoken. Being Swiss myself, speaking Swiss German, I understand quite a bit of Pennsylvanian Dutch .

When showing the HUGE CATHEDRAL, people need to do a lot of pausing so you can see all the intricate sculptures all over the outside of the building, and all the intricate carvings and sculptures on the interior of the building. I wish I had zoom so I could see more, but so thankful my external monitor is large enough to let me see what I could. The sculptures carved above the entrance were incredible and amazing, so beautiful. I am probably wasting my time because everyone else probably already did that, but I never knew about all those intricate details in and on the cathedral.

Corrie Ten Boom museum is in Haarlem and the big churge the Sint Bavo as well. It is a 30 minute drive from Amsterdam to Haarlem, but they're different cities . In the Netherlands cities are close together en you can drive from one side of the Netherlands to the other in about 3 hours.
