Yes and my question is why didn't she just have the Uber\Lyft person take her home that night? She would still be alive. The downside is her immaturity. She didn't see anything threatening--meeting up with men, wanting to be a "sugar baby," hiding her double life from her parents. Yes, she was old enough to do whatever she wanted, but not mature enough in her thinking that there are killers that walk amongst us. Unfortunately, she met one of them. And it cost her her life...

In no way am I defending the criminal who took her life, but her behavior and choices could have minimized such a risk. Most rapes or acts of violence happen in close proximity. Nevertheless, people are more afraid of the unknown, even though 4/5 of all cases happen in the immediate vicinity. Basically, the chance of falling victim to an act of violence is many times higher in a relationship than if you are single. And yet people still seek security in relationships.

So many people said they "got a gut feeling" and stayed away but not this young lady. So either her "feelers" were broken, or maybe by the time her instincts sounded the alarm, it was already too late for her or maybe she just ignored her gut feelings. i'm a Lebanese dude who can't get a visa to the US to visit family and friends in California while this monster was granted visa and stay and got married in the US, he had huge red flags around him and nobody did nothing and a young woman lost her life because of that. smh

How was this guy not in jail or deported for what he did previously? Crazy. Also prosecuters that take the unlife penalty off the table are why we have 200k+ people serving life sentences, far too much money going to waste. Do your job and quit taking the easy way out by offering a plea deal.

The unfortunate thing here is that a soft-hearted jury may have given him just what he got; however, I hope that some degree of compensation was imposed -- referring to a previous comment that I made: "and may the compensation be that his house and EVERYTHING he owns goes to the victim's family or a charity set up to compensate victims of crimes against women." ..... if he doesn't lose his life, then take everything else (and it's up to congress and lawyers to make sure victims and other victim's families are looked after).

@@mb669yes it was not her fault because that man made the horrible, decision, to take her life and she was so young. But at the same time if you decide to tread down the wrong path and constantly put yourself in danger or a path of destruction then that IS on you. The same goes for a teenage boy who chooses the ‘gang banger’ lifestyle, the teenage girl who chooses to keep running off with older men, the PEOPLE who choose to make decisions that do NOT help themselves but will only hurt themselves because they think they are invincible to the reality of this world we live in.
