Kaylee Sawyer was just twenty-three years old when she was out having fun with friends at a bachelorette party, until she vanished. While walking down the street to get to her apartment, she was trapped in a campus security vehicle and kidnapped by a Central Oregon Community College security guard named Edwin Lara. The Decoder breaks down the story to reveal what really happened the day she disappeared.

What are you talking about?? I thought she made a HUGE mistake trying not to coerce the guy into revealing where the body was...... she had a chance right then and there when emotions are high, to try and get the guy to fess up to where he put the body. Imagine with time to settle down and a lawyer to tell him to be quiet, they may have never found the body at all (if he hid it well enough and refuse to let them know). The operator had a chance, and she just pretty much said it's fine when she asks where the girl was and he was on the fence of telling or not but said he will later.

The professionalism of the police officers and interrogators are absolutely mind blowing. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the operator ask him whether he needs any medication, and other stuff regarding the killer's safety. I wonder what she felt as she uttered those words on the phone. Also, the interrogator who said 'I know you are not a bad guy' and remained calmed and professional while he obviously felt otherwise is amazing to tell the least. Now, I just don't understand how these things happen in a developed country like the US. I haven't seen or heard of such cases in Europe or Latinamerica. Something is wrong with people in general, and this goes beyond economics.

Kaylee's law should have been that all current officers would have thorough background checks done on them again, and future officers have thorough background checks done on them before they could even be considered. I worked for a company that did that, and found one guy trying to apply was denied just because of a traffic violation committed in another state. Before his marriage he had nothing to look forward to so he had the urge to kill. Taking an innocent persons life who had a lot to look forward to. He's totally deranged

I lived in the same apartment complex as her and remember this. My roommate rode his longboard home at 2am after work and was almost killed by Edwin when he cut him off with the security car. This probably frequently happened, and that's why he came up with the story that it was an accident. It was tragic, sounds crazy but I remember smoking outside that night and I could just tell something wasn't right and felt creeped out. Glad the family got a 2m payout from COCC.

It seems so common that the murderers always have difficulty coming clean with what they have done. I think part of the murderer changing their story is out of self preservation. The other part is they realize how totally"F" upped it totally is. They realize their strange urge to kill separates them from being a normal human. They are now in a class of their own. I imagine it is a lonely place where the world despises you! You've actually done it now! You are a murderous alien on a planet the condemns this sort of behaivor. Edwin is probably saying to himself; "how did I let this urge take over me?" I would imagine they feel sad mostly for themselves because they must face the music of their deeds.

One is a camping trip, the other we’re going to Gulf Shores for a week. Sometimes we need time away from everything to decompress. My husband could tell me he’s going to the MOON without me and I wouldn’t care bc 99% of the time, we’re always together, even when we work since we run multiple businesses together. Some of y’all just have too many trust issues 🤷🏼‍♀️ I get it if they’re going out partying, but everything else for us is fair game.
