@Lewis-sn7mv

@@Kaptinhowdy In that instance it's more about his safety, imagine going through an intersection at 50mph (for example) and this guy was crossing the street/making a turn, no headlights, no indicators, nothing to protect him from a collision, while he is drunk and high (both were mentioned); he would not likely even notice (nor likely care) if he was going the wrong way or through a red. As the officer said, he would probably only have told him not to drive it and instead to get someone to pick him up if he had not been drinking. Now with that knowledge, does it seem sensible to keep him out of harms way?
@KNOTTYBUDS
@KNOTTYBUDS 9 ай бұрын
I think what made it a DUI was that he was driving it in the street. It might be victimless for other people, but maybe not so much for him if he gets hit by another car. And honestly, that would still be a victim, because they'd now have to live with that.

It’s the eye movements! I had a sorority sister that literally practiced sobriety tests. She was the worst for so many reasons, but that was definitely a red flag so big it could cover a stadium. I explained to her so many times that she wouldn’t pass the eye check if drunk because the eye movement is really out of your control. She had three DUIs before 21, which her dad got her out of. Never even lost her license. Yes, we did disaffiliate her, but I feel sorry for her. You can’t tell a 19 year old it’s ok to do that and expect different results. I teach high school now and it was an eye opening experience as to how we really were still CHILDREN at that age. And children (most adults too) need boundaries for their own good. My dad is also an attorney and knew her dad. I asked him once what we he do. He said because I’m his kid he’d help me with the process, but that he would expect me to accept all consequences given by the court without complaint. Good answer, he has integrity and would help me but not enable me.

He may not be an immediate danger in a power wheels car but he could easily still cause an accident since he's driving along with those metal rockets on wheels. All he has to do is swerve or pull out in front of a real car & that could also get someone killed including himself. Either they hit him or they avoid hitting him & instead hit something/someone else. Drunks in general cause havoc.
