One of the biggest problems with this type of mental illness is getting the person to take their meds. Even if the right cocktail of drugs are achieved to control the illness, the drugs tend to deaden the persons feelings, and without supervision, the drugs are often not taken. You cannot blame the medical profession for not ensuring the patients cooperation. Somewhere along the line, there are consequences for criminal actions, and Tyler's profound inability to participate in his own healing led to an inevitable conclusion.

I saw the video of the sister being brought to the police department for questions. She showed no emotions about her mother's murder and even tried flirting with police. @@Sportfury4400He is on disability, which means he gets state Medicare. To be prescribed those medications, I'm sure he has a psychiatrist. It is up to the patient to adhere to the medication regimen and to attend follow-up appointments. The patient also needs to let the doctor know if the medicine is not working. The doctor isn't a psychic. If he was not able to schedule his own appointments, communicate his issues, or adhere, then someone should have taken power of attorney. However, that point is moot because we all have free will, and he decided not to take the medicine and not to seek further help to remedy the situation. There's also the option of finding another provider if that was the issue or discussing switching medication. I'm speaking from experience. I'm on disability but not due to mental illness. I see a psychiatrist, and it is my responsibility as a patient to adhere to the regimen and inform my doctor of any symptoms, changes, and interactions.

If you’re a violent person, schizophrenia will manifest voices for you to harm people, if you’ve been victimized and not a violent person, the voices will manifest someone wants to harm you. If you’re someone who is mean and judgemental to others, the voices will manifest you hearing voices of telling fake accusations of people but if you’ve been wrongly judged in your life and felt victimized you will hear voices of people judging you. It’s all personality based, speaking from my experience with the condition

Someone will say well he or she was never violent before, it may not be physically violence it could be mental abuse or it could be the person has those thoughts but never acted on them until then. Schizophrenia is like alcohol it brings out things already there, it doesn’t change people personality.. it just brings things that were repressed or hidden or internal thoughts and turn them into expressed behavior

Just because he was prescribed medications for multiple different mental illnesses and personality disorders, that doesn't mean he took the meds and certainly doesn't mean that the meds "CREATED the monster". Authorities were not paying attention??? Really? Like, does anyone think he took his meds, or did what professionals ask him to do? I work in psychiatry as an RN in a county jail and we even can't force medicate murderers or violent criminals without court ordered commitments to the state hospital, even if just to be restored as competent for trial. Even those who are just mentally ill and not on drugs consistently lack insight and WILL NOT allow us to "pay attention". In jail they refuse meds, as soon as released form often solitary confinement, they relapse into aberrant behavior in the community. We have a guy who shot his mother in the head 3 times for no known reason. He pretends to be psychotic, but is actually a psychopath which does not respond to medications. DO NOT blame medications and providers for "failing" the mentally ill murderer's victim/s. They are violent crazy.
