I was Anita's age ....... and a nurse. All over Australia nurses started carrying their scissors in their hands when returning to their cars. Hospital Security started escorting staff who were unable to return to vehicles or transport in a group. Even when the culprits were caught and tried it had changed the way Nurses treated travel to and from work in Australia forever. Anita's parents were sooo strong and helped so many victim's families through the years after their own tragedy.

My mother was a nurse, and she was 28 when this happened, very close to Anita’s age. I remember her telling me the story when I was old enough, about walking home alone at night, as a bit of a warning. But now I think about it, I think she was just as scared for herself 😢💕

I recently met a person who had access to all autopsy, images and court documents. Being retired I asked her questions about this case. She told me that if people new the true depravity and sickening torture they inflicted on her, then us true crime buffs would never read anything ever again. My friend told me the ptsd amongst all involved in the investigation led to many suicides. An those mongrels never had a moment’s peace in gaol an guards were happy to turn a blind eye. I’m so glad the community never knew it all, idle gossip and guessing was nothing in comparison to the truth.

I saw the thumbnail and my heart sank. This brings back cold dread and terror filled memories for this poor, poor woman and her family. The monsters that did this shouldn't have been allowed to live after what they did. The horrific torture this poor lady endured. Do they have the death penalty in Australia? I don't know that it makes much difference in people, but it sure does for the victims of horrific crimes. We have crimes like poor Miss Anita's all the time here in the USA, but it's so big, and there are so many people here that there's bound to be "deplorables." Anita sure was a wonderful, beautiful woman it's a very sad story. I just watched a movie last night about a mass shooting that occurred in 1990, where 13 people were murdered in a small beach town. Very sad. Rest in peace, Miss Anita 😔 🙏 💔

@@deana1938 Australia abolished the death penalty for all states and territories in 1985 but the last person to be executed prior to that was in 1967. In 2010, the Australian government passed legislation that prohibited the reintroduction of capital punishment.
