Man this defense team will have you doing 20 yrs for running a stop sign, I feel sorry for anybody that use him, you will get max time. Probably the worse lawyer in the history of lawyers.

The evidence overwhelming proves that this man is guilty. There is no attorney that can get him out of that.

I don’t think that the attorney is bad. The problem is that Billy Ray Turner had so much evidence against him.

I don't know where he went to Law school but he needs a refresher course. He is either setting Billy up for an ineffective council appeal, because he didn't think his closing argument through AT ALL.

Most of these attorneys are appointed by the court. He probably doesn't want to be his attorney but he has no choice. His job unfortunately is to defend his client even if he may believe he is guilty.

English is my native language. I understand all of defense council’s words. So why do I have NO IDEA WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT? Same for his opening. In between, he seemed to be coherent during cross-examination. Though frequently irrelevant, and ultimately pointless, his cross was at least understandable. I can’t fathom how someone who would execute such a rambling, shambolic closing argument could also A.) be sober and B.) pass the bar exam. Perhaps Tennessee bar exams are actually conducted in BARS.

I don’t think that the defense attorney is a bad attorney. I think that his client ( the defendant in the case) had so much evidence against himself, and that was probably the only way that he could defend his client

Wow. I was lost a few minutes during the defense closing - it might have sounded better if he said what he was trying to convey in French - I did my best to follow to no avail. I even thought the Deacon would take the stand and tell the truth to show he changed his life. I simply loved the judge & I love "me" some Mrs Marion - she is my Shero! God Bless, Mrs Marion, family, his kids, and and friends!

This man talks a lot without saying anything.He telks for ages about "you heard him say it" and he gos on and on and finally lets us know that what he waid was he had a partner. Why does that not prove Billy was not his partner. He did the same thing when he was talking about whether Billy was there or was not there and said this or did not say this and I am so confused. And why does he yell all the time.I had to turn my volume down three levels to tolerate it.

Did you catch the part where he almost called someone a "sissy a$$ trick, but stammered trick-ster right quick.🤦 I remember Marcia Clark talking about hiring a PR firm to advise her on her appearance and tone during the OJ trial. This guy should do the same, because he comes across dude as heck.

@autumn_b9052 жыл бұрын
To the defense attorney's "defense", his job is to make sure the defendant's trial is fair and that the State followed procedures correctly during investigation, etc. Notice how he keeps harping on what the State did or didn't do. If the procedures weren't followed legally, the case can be thrown out based on procedural defect. He was likely appointed by the court and could not refuse to represent this man. There isn't much he could do but try to put up a defense even if he may believe his client is guilty. He can't just appear, doing and saying nothing, and just concede to the prosecutors.

I'm not going to lie... this was a solid closing argument. It's probably making me question more because I don't believe EVERYTHING Jimmie said. I met my fair share of Jimmies in my past and they will ALWAYS lie about a portion of the story. I don't know if Billy is innocent but I'm convinced that Jimmie was more involved (with this unknown partner) than he's saying. I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't over.

@11:04 ~ Gosh, I think this defense attorney is bad at giving opening statements and closing arguments. May be bad at the entire trial. He jumps around like a neurotic person and doesn’t make it clear for the jury. I consider myself extremely sharp on following arguments and on legal issues, and even I had a little trouble understanding what he was talking about in the opening statements. I do understand what yes defense attorneys theory of the case is, BUT THE ONLY REASON WHY is because I’ve watched countless documentaries about flawed investigations, flawed trials, and exonerated people, and lying co-defendants. Have I not watched all these type of documentaries and shows I don’t think I would’ve been able to follow with this defense lawyer’s theory is. For instance, during this time stamp it almost sounds like he’s criticizing The codefendant/witness for telling the cops about the Facebook messages after Billy Turner was in jail, because that’s what the defense attorney said. But that’s not really what the defense attorney is trying to convey, basically he’s trying to say that the codefendant/witness is only giving information to the cops that he absolutely has to give because the cops know about it, but if the cops don’t know about it then he’s not saying anything. So they codefendant/witness at first didn’t say anything about all the Facebook messages he wrote to Sherri because he didn’t want to incriminate himself, but when he found out that the cops had the information then he tells the cops about it. So then you tell the jury that you wonder what else this codefendant/witness is being strategic about.
@sierramcclary28972 жыл бұрын
I think the defense attorney was trying to gaslight and confuse the jury, because the defendant had so much evidence against himself
