Zingah is biased towards certain people, and French helps balance a bit here and there, but Rashid, seems a lot less biased even though he has some questionable take here and there. I loved this conversation. You guys are right, the Hip Hop system needs to grow or do better so the talented artist of this country can rise and rep the country well. Because it's not like there isn't fire! And most of us don't want to stay underground. And we have a lot of variety with the music. The unrecognised need a way to be in some way. I say we should even have our own Radio stations and TV Channels that are strictly, and then spread out from there. Because we are international now. The only reason Touchline didn't make the Lyricist of the year category is because Rashid himself has tagged Touch as a Grief rapper and couldn't see beyond that definition even though it didn't apply for the SOON 2 project, regardless of the project's name. The only track on SOON 2 that has Grief/Struggle theme/topic is "A South African Christmas", and that was more reflective on the state of the country and less about Touch himself. SOON 2 was a full package, as Touch himself said on the 2nd track on the project, "I'm making music for every mood" - motivational songs, a "grief" song, vibey songs, non-struggle related storyline driven tracks etc. His pen game for the year was surely better than Tyson's, respectfully. And I loved Tyson's Home & Away project btw
