It it cannot take years to get domestic enemies out of office especially when they display conduct that is not in alignment with Oath to the US Constitution. I'm still stunned that McCarthy pretends he's powerless bc Santos's constituents voted him in. Um, no - they voted in a college-educated finance wiz & volleyball superstar who could have taken it pro, had he not suddenly been stricken with the insatiable urge to serve his fellow man. And folks in his district might not even have voted for a guy who run the campaign under his real name. It's all still a big mystery because when asked, he went from running away & pretending the press corp didn't exist, to acting all peevish and wounded when they called out his lies, to popping off with sarcasm and sashaying into the elevator without answering their question. He's loving this, because he's earning big money (to do an "honest" job, even!) & getting more attention than he can handle.

Never say never. It was the Democrats that got Democrat Al Franken to resign for a lot less than this. Before the Tea Party and maga cult started distracting their voters from their real authoritarian agenda with unimportant, and sometimes insane BS, the Republicans once had a moral code and were responsible for getting Nixon to resign because the majority were going to vote for impeachment. This was back when they still had respect for the oath of office that they swore to uphold to protect the Constitution and the rules of law of this country.

@garyallen8824 They shouldn't have done that and they regretted it. Things have to proceed in their proper order. Otherwise there is Chaos. The ethics committee is conducting an investigation and will submit a report. The house will then take appropriate action. They could, by two thirds vote expelled Santos from the House but it would be a violation of their own president to do that for behavior prior to his becoming a member. The Supreme Court would have to decide if it is legal. There should be some reluctance to expelling a member because it overturns the will of his constituents. Members might be expelled for being homosexual or being anti-homosexual. Franken resigned, he wasn't voted out.
