A few fun facts about Eureka Springs : The auditorium was featured in a movie titled "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammo" shot in (I believe) the late 1980's. In the final scene, they blew all the windows out of the south side of the building. The old train depot was featured in the movie "The Blue and the Gray", shot in the early1980's. When building the statue of the Christ of the Ozarks, the body was being completed when the FAA came along and told them the finished height was going to be too tall and would need a red blinking light on top. They lowered the body before attaching the arms and head. That is why things look slightly out of proportion. The Carnegie Library was built on a raised stone platform, which supported a gazebo which had stairs leading up to the Crescent Hotel. That gazebo inspired the design of one built at the East Mountain Lookout in 1990-91. In the late 1970's-early 1980's the then owner of the Basin Park Hotel bought one of Elvis Presley's cars and had a crane hoist it up and into the top floor of the hotel, to be used as a tourist attraction. I believe it was a Lincoln Continental Convertible. The Flatiron Building is a newer replacement of the original, which burnt in 1890. It was replaced by one that also burnt. The one standing now, is a copy of a copy, of a copy :)

I’ve taken multiple vacations to Eureka Springs over the years. It has a magical feel for me. My last trip was in 2017. I had another trip planned right when the pandemic broke out and canceled. I saw where a number of my favorite places to dine have gone out of business. I hope to return to visit. If I could afford to move there I’d do so in a heartbeat.
