many years ago we went on an epic road trip and sent a postcard from every sightseeing location to my dad. He kept them. After he passed away we found the postcards and looked over them with our kids-now in their 30s. fun to remember the trip from their point of view as kids with those notes we sent my dad. I would suggest the post cards and write your favorite memory from that day. In our digital day it is a quick tactile way to remember the best parts of a long trip.

Magnets will eventually weigh you down. Post cards, if you write a brief note about your experience at the location AND put them in a dedicated box. I suggest stickers to place somewhere on the vehicle. Inside a cabinet door, outer access door. Alternative, piece of heavy clear film, cut to the interior size of a window. Place stickers on the film. Easy to display, take down when you want, keep if/when you have a new adventure vehicle.

One of my favorite things about full timing, when Sunday hits, the majority of the campground empties out and remains that way until Thursday or Friday. The weekends are usually pretty packed and hectic but we generally use the weekends to travel to our next spots.

Many years ago (circa late 80's), we began with collecting shot glasses, but soon learned that they need a lot of shelf/closet space to display/store. So, about 8 years ago, we switched to magnets and are so glad we did. Much easier and safer to pack while still traveling and easier to display once home -- I created framed magnet boards for them: one for US and Caribbean and another for the rest of the world.

Another possibility for a collection are enamel pins. You can get a sheet of thick corkboard and stick them into it for display. Might work better even than magnets if you don't have a lot of ferrous metal surfaces to put them on.
@thetessellater9163
@thetessellater9163 Жыл бұрын
In the UK, those magnets are called 'Fridge Magnets' because they stick to the metal door face of the fridge, though any ferrous surface would do. I'd go with the magnets anyway.

You can bind the postcards into a book and write on the back where you’ve been. You can add a magnet panel somewhere to put the magnets but it does take up a lot of visual space. Personally, I’ve been doing postcards and stickers for when I go to national parks. Much lighter and less waste!

Is that roof rated for load-bearing? I'd be worried about stressing it out and springing little leaks in the fall. Great film anyhow, you're certainly selling the RV lifestyle. I'm very impressed with how the rig is handling those mountain roads and Eureka looks like a lovely town to visit. The cocktail menu needs a bit of work!

no matter what drinking on a roof without a railing, is dangerous. i have seen it go wrong for a pregnant woman that was not drunk, she dident know on leg from the chair was over the side when she sat down. if it can´t stand the weight, then it will probetly start to leek in the top, if you dont fall through the roof

Great to see Clementine performing A-okay for you. I also appreciate that you leave in the little snafus and keep it real. :) For thrifty souvenirs: you can select a pebble from each State and write on the State name and the date you arrived, and keep them in a jar. One thought: Any way to add a pop-up railing to your rooftop for safety?

Postcards are great and they store compactly if you keep them many years. They are also easy to scan if you need to part with them later. Limit magnets to 5 or 10 special ones that might fit on your fridge or somewhere else vertical. Limit shot glasses to two very special ones. They take up more space! Great video!

If you want a more comfortable rooftop without the weight of a wooden, or synthetic wood, deck you can do it 2 ways. 1: They make a stick on padding you can adhear straight to the roof (watch/get hold of Kara and Nate for what they stuck down to their roof deck to make it more comfortable to sit on), or 2: get a sheet of Alucobond (5mm aluminum composite sheeting, or called panel cladding) and screw it down to the roof to strengthen it and spread out your weight across a wider area. You can then put the stick on padding on top of it for a bit of cushion, or get a sheet of the composite panels with a woodgrain print (or whatever pattern/look you like) to make it kinda look like a wood surface. The Alucobond is 2 thin sheets of aluminum with a synthetic material sandwiched between them for strength and lightness and is used for large buildings siding and signage/billboards. The Alucobond only weighs about 7 pounds per square meter so it won't be heavy like a wooden deck!

Get magnets for display AND postcards for a scrapbook. On the backside of each postcard make some bullet points for where you stayed, what you saw, where you ate, favorite memories and any other interesting facts. You can then easily flip through your custom 50-state postcard memory book years "down the road". What a keepsake! - Michelle from Massachusetts P.S. When you visit this state you should see coastal towns south of Boston such as Hingham, Cohassett, Scituate, Marshfield and Duxbury to see the old sea captain mansions and quaint New England homes and of course you shouldn't miss the Plymouth waterfront. If you are here in the fall, also check out Route 2 for the foliage.

Just started watching your channel. You have very upbeat and welcoming personalities. Good work on the video as well. Having owned many RVs i would suggest at the very least that you glue down one piece of white rubber roofing material that covers the entire roof. It wont strengthen the roof structure but it will eliminate leaks that could be caused by walking or sitting on the roof. I have never had that system fail me. It completely eliminates the patching leaks battle that comes with older RVs. It flexes with the body. You could also glue wood on top of that to strengthen the roof deck for walking and sitting.

How about a different item from each state? 50 shot glasses would be a tad extreme? I'd get a magnet from some, post cards from others, maybe keyrings? Or, if the state has a special item? Like a famous book that was written there or a crystal that's local or pottery handmade? Normally I'd go for fridge magnets, but maybe 50 is a lot of one particular item? I guess it would be whatever brings colour to your live and brings you joy!! x

I collect postcards that can be mounted on a cute string with cute decorative clothes pins on the inside of the RV snd can be switched out and saved in an album. But I collect a certain style of postcards that all sort of are the same vintage style. My office is decorated with moss and postcards.

Something I collect while traveling, are stickers. I like to put them on the inside of my Tool Box. It's kinda like motivation everytime I go back to grab something. I also collect Park Pins for my hiking hat after I've visited one. **Geek Alert** 😆

You should absolutely get postcards. You can keep themin a binder and end up with a neat coffee table book.

I used to collect cookbooks of places I visited but my cupboard burst with them after a while. I suggest shot glasses, but that postcard is hilarious
