No clutch. It's friction drive. Fwd and reverse is controlled by moving the lever/engine over a friction wheel. One side of the spinning disc attached to the engine is reverse, the other is fwd. Watch the engine when the kid moves the lever. The whole engine slides back and forth. Very strange drive mechanism indeed.

Press the brake/clutch and STOP "Before" you shift forward to reverse gears or you'll tear the transmission up. You wont find another trans for it.
