Nice job, Mick. If you had the right flywheel, you could convert it to electronic ignition.

Hi Mick. Great vid mate. I have a vid on this topic coming soon. It's not hands on like yours, it's a little more nerdy than yours with it being theory on how the sparking system works. Would you like me to give you a shout out on it and a link to your vid/vids etc? I like the way you present and think my audience would like your vids and channel. Just let me know mate. Speak soon. Craig

Mine is a HRG415PD, if you are familiar. It can't be a bored screw as I clamped off the pipe as an experiment and it still ran fine.

Hi Mick.b what do you use for "Gunk off" is that a deep degreasing spray like brake cleaner?
@themowerman3 жыл бұрын
Not as harsh as break cleaner but a good cleaning product

How does the breather tube work? It goes from the air filter to a Philips screw whick blocks it off, so why is it even needed?
@themowerman3 жыл бұрын
The crankcase pipe goes from the air box into a small hole on the engine on this one
@Turningwrenches853 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the condenser as well prob the original on it,
@peterreeve86633 жыл бұрын
Hi Mick, just wondered why some engines have points and some don’t. Did you look at that kill wire again because you said it looked a bit suspect? Cheers Pete
@themowerman3 жыл бұрын
I did have a look at it.. thought I saw a break but it was some dirt..
@gravelyman3 жыл бұрын
I think it's condenser failure Mick. I would change the points and condenser like your about to do. Good video my friend 👍
@Mike-ig2zq3 жыл бұрын
Just curious Mick can you test those condensers for capacitance ? Microfarads.
@themowerman3 жыл бұрын
I believe you can mate but this one was insulated. Just as cheap to get a new one.
@TheNovaJohn3 жыл бұрын
I haven't had much luck with these,,,I save a few things,,,most I see here are just too far gone,,cost prohibitive to fix.. Usually the wheels are shot, cables going, engine nocks....Sad,,, was a great machine in its day,, good luck!!
@TheNovaJohn3 жыл бұрын
BTW,, remove the condenser, clean and file the points, take off the coil, clean the mounts with a wire brush so grounding isn't an issue, run the engine,, if the coil is going you will know,,,, especially if it reads around 6k ohms. Condensers aren't required, they will short out to some degree,, what they do is help the points out from burning to quick. If your replacing that and just wanna test, this is fine.
@johndavin17773 жыл бұрын
have you disconnected the kill switch just to rule it out

I've just scored one of these machines for free but the rear wheels are off and one of the splined drive cogs are missing, any body know where I could get some replacements?
@fractalofgod63243 жыл бұрын
Any ideas mick lad?
@richardandrews12843 жыл бұрын
Coil tests OK, so 90% chance it's the condenser.
