Been using a HRU216 for the last ten years down here in Melbourne. After some testing I will say the following. The unit is normally sold with two high lift blades and two low lift blades. I am told that low lift is supposed to be better for mulching and high lift for catching. I have tried having 4 high lift blades, 4 low lift blades, and the standard 2 High 2 low. 4 High Mulches better, 4 High catches better. 4 low is only good if you are shaving a little of the top. We now run exclusively 4 high (Except when we get a new mower which comes 2 High 2 low)
@FujimeeVibes3 жыл бұрын
That's very interesting. I would love to try that 4 high blades. To be honest I haven't tried to replace swingback blades myself as we use to have the bar blades for our old mower. The small mower with swingback blades were last replaced in the service centre during the general service but I am prepared for next time as I have already bought the replacement swingback blades for the small mower. The hru216 in this vid is new so it uses 2 high and 2 low. I wonder what blade combination i have in the spare blades that I got for the small mower though. That is the GA spares that i bought for the small mower.

@@FujimeeVibes Changing the blades on the 216 is easiest if you take the disk off to replace the blades. The disk should be held on with two bolts. I do my own blades and service my own mowers. It is not that hard, but it does depend on how busy you get. In terms of what the other mower uses, depends on which mower it is. Some of the Honda's use the same blades on the 19" as on the 21" while others have their own particular style of blades.

@@mavv7088 True. I service all our equipments too it's just that I haven't tried to replace the swingback blades. I have watched some vids already on how to do it and like you said it is easy to do. Always good to have our hands dirty on these machines. 👍

Have any of you adjusted up the fast idle on this mower?
@mavv70883 жыл бұрын
@@thebagdersarse5824 Have not needed to. The machine works well the way it was set up by the supplying dealer. Only had to adjust a throttle cable once because the machine would not stop. The cable was a little stretched and would not push on the kill switch. Never needed to adjust the idle (even on the old one I use around the house for shit jobs and slashing. )

I would try edging and blowing that in the grass then mow so you not blowing that mess back into you freshly mowed yard. With yalls small yards I’m suprised you don’t go electric. Just ditch my stihl blower and husqvarnia trimmer for electric and the power is amazing. Never going back to gas
@FujimeeVibes3 жыл бұрын
We just feel like going with the petrol. Not sure if there is an electric equivalent for the performance of hru216 though, i haven't checked. Also we still have big jobs that takes around 4 hrs where we need high performance mower coz they are mostly tall and overgrown to do so i guess petrol is more reliable on those scenarios.

mower envy, would the 196 suit a 700sqm yard, or would it be best to go 216 SP?

What’s the different between side discharge and mulch and what do u think is better I was thinking of side discharge
@FujimeeVibes3 жыл бұрын
I think side discharge is mainly for discharging the clippings to the side but it doesn't turn the clippings into tiny pieces so you need to keep coming back and forth to actually turn it into mulch. But with mulch it cuts the clippings rightaway into small pieces. Mulching is good if the grass is not that high, otherwise it may cause clogging inside the deck. Side discharge is good for low grass and also for tall grass. I would love to have a side discharge but hru216 don't have it.
@FujimeeVibes3 жыл бұрын
In this video, we were using the mulch coz the grass was not that high. But if we were cutting tall grass I would use rear discharge to cut chop them all first then bag it.

Thank u for the advice yea you guys should try it I think your viewer would like that I think it’ll give you more sub

That was a lovely garden, why no catcher for the clippings?
@FujimeeVibes3 жыл бұрын
Hi Carol, we started doing mulching because the grass is not overgrown and we think that the finish can still be good. Also leaving the clippings back to the lawn is good for the lawn because it acts as a natural fertiliser for the lawn.

I found 216 is bit too heavy to maneuver in tight spaces and if you mainly do mulching jobs,try victa mulch master 560,mulches way better.
@FujimeeVibes3 жыл бұрын
Hey Leon, thanks for watching. Yeah, hru216 is heavy. In tight places we normally use our small push mower which is also a honda. The way it does mulching is good enough for us. It is actually mulches very good when I checked the clippings, it's like powder and does not clog up the deck in my experience. We also have other vids where we mulch tall grasses with our other 2 honda mowers. Check it out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3mygZd3mderiK8
