The Lawn Care Nut

Lawn sprinkler head maintenance, especially in the south where our lawns will cover over the sprinkler heads quickly. Keep grass from covering your lawn sprinkler heads with concrete lawn donuts and these handy tools that keep the irrigation heads free and clear - similar to sprinkler buddy or sprinkler saver, but more fun and durable.

The TAS25 is made by a Florida inventor and is distributed via dealers. This video is NOT sponsored.
If you want one, you can call Rice's Outdoor Power and they can arrange shipping: (941) 746-4234
TAS25 - $25.99 (available at dealers)
I have an Echo PAS225 and these are the parts I had to buy in order to make this work. This would be the same for ALL Echo string trimmers. I'm not sure about other brands:
Here is what I got:
Blade Plate - Part C535000100 $25.99 (dang!)
Blade Fixture - Part C535000150 $10.99 (dang!)
Nut - Part 90051300010 $2.99 (dang!)
Cotter Pin - they gave me free lol
I bought an additional trimmer attachment for my PAS225 which was an investment of $69.99 Part 99944200540

I used them on the golf course, they are great time savers in the right hands. Yes, the guard does need to come off to max full potential of head cleaning. This is a great way to make a yard "pop" if you have good grass, like yourself, Sir. Plus you will enjoy much better coverage from your heads as well, but you know that. Enjoy your sunshine.

I have a centipede lawn which is similar. 25 irrigation heads. I feel like the upkeep with the donuts would be more than occasionally trimming around a head. For my lawn at least. Even at the maximum height my lawn would ever be my heads have enough clearance which helps

When I was on the golf course we would be trimming sprinkler heads over the whole course once a week. The tool is definitely worth the investment: 1. for the time it saves, and 2. For the clean crisp cut it leaves behind with little effort

I grew up here so I've always known about them but for sure they are not as needed up north. Our grass types grow with very fat, thick stolons - alpha male grass - and we need to have concrete to help keep them from eating our heads.

Use pebbles for leveling the Donuts, also a simple extended reach hedge trimmer works great for trimming around them. No need for that circular cutter. Looks like all the heads in your yard are sunk, that's why the grass grows over them so easy.

The donut makes the grass clean out area way too big in diameter. I feel somebody can twist an ankle in those holes I used 3” dia PVC pipe approx 4” long and just tapped them into ground with a block of wood And hammer. Dude. just use cut up lengths of PVC tubing. You can bury it deep enough to stop all the stolons and when you mow over it's not concrete and won't damage a blade. You can use 10 to 12 cm diameter PVC tubing and to get it in there you just make a dye with one of them and sharpen the edge. Make some vertical cuts on the bottom with an angle grinder to act as a cutting surface and screw it in. Left it out and then put the PVC tube in. And repeat. Aussie gold. It's a bit like when the US tried to develop have pen that work in anti-gravity situations, and the Russians just used a lead pencil. We're all convicts down here so we know a thing or two
