is it possible to save a word document to a client matter and not a folder?

I don't think so because I have not seen the ability to do this at any companies for which I've taught iManage Work 10. However, it is configured for each organization so it may be possible. I have seen a lot of places that have a "Doc" or "Miscellaneous" folder set up in their matters as a catch all. And when you are looking at a matter, there is usually a search folder you can click to see all documents for that one client-matter.

No. I work at iManage. It's not possible. Docs must be in a folder.
