The real reasons oligarchs want to staff their companies with H-1B workers are: 1. They can pay them less, and 2. These workers will tolerate more mistreatment because they'll be deported if they are fired (and don't quickly find a new job.) Regardless of whether Maga is racist, the reason the oligarchs want to increase H1-B visas is about worker exploitation. Instead of moving all work abroad, it's about denying decent wages and working conditions at home. Responsible policy does need to acknowledge this.

Pres. and Mrs. Musk's support of the H-1B visa has nothing to do with whether US workers have a background in tech. If people are hired on H-1B visas, they will be deported if they quit their job or get fired. They will only have 15 days to find another one. That means employers can treat these people any way they want to. They can pay them less, give them more work, require them to work longer hours, discriminate against them, sexually harass them -- they can do anything to these people that they want to do because they know that they will not quit and will not risk being fired by reporting the corporations for violating labor laws. This is yet another attempt by corporations to circumvent the law.

my son is having trouble finding a job in the tech sector. Many times the interviews are sham interviews that need to be done prior to requesting an H1B visa. It's an immigration visa requirement that companies do their due diligence to try to find and person who currently has work authorization in the US. The company knows they want a H1B visa worker but has to do these sham interviews to show they couldn't find someone. This is happening to tech workers all over. My son had to work in retail sales for a period of time before starting his own business that is currently struggling to take off. So yes, these H1B visas do take jobs from US workers and they have a real impact. I don't normally agree with Steve Bannon but on this point I do. Musky boy just wants everyone to bow down to him.
