I was a 50-something menopausal woman. My uterus did not completely clear a late -age period. I required a D&C. Totally unrelated, in my 70s a UTI resulted in sepsis. It was an awful and terrifying experience for me and my husband who thought I was going to die. To do this to a young, healthy woman is nothing less that criminal. I hope someone in TX files charges, suits, or whatever it takes to stop these horrors. All my thoughts go to that 6-year-old child deprived of a loving mother. I am very, very angry and I vote!

My wife had an ectopic pregnancy and needed an abortion to stop the false pregnancy from kiling her. Abortion was banned in Texas the day of her procedure, and her doctor refused to treat her. I had to put her and my two boys in the car and drove 16 hrs, barely stopping to Colorado to get the procedure done. I will never forget this traumatic experience these fools caused me and my family.

Lawrence I watched this a second time and my emotions match yours. I was as a RN and in the course of time, education through to practice knew that a D&C was not an abortion. I raised that fact each time I’ve heard that lie, here in the US. I had 2 D&Cs because I wanted to get pregnant and had hidden miscarriages. I was a young boy, but I can remember before Roe v. Wade. Abortions were illegal, but they happened. Most of them took place on the kitchen table of a woman with no medical training. The tools of choice were homemade from a wire coat hanger, and the same knife she used to peel apples for a pie. Infection was almost guaranteed, and women died in the thousands every year. Rich women could afford to travel to certain clinics where some doctors could evade the law and perform the operations at a high price, but poor women were reduced to these "back ally" abortionists. As a nurse, I can attest to the fact that a D&C is a routine (minor) procedure. The body expels the fetus once the fetus is dead. This was not a “living” being. That’s why she developed a fulminating infection, she retained decomposing tissue. I want to sympathize with the healthcare providers, since I wouldn’t want to go to jail either. But since this fetus was dead - this was not an abortion. It was surgery to remove dead tissue. If I were practicing in GA, I would either move or I would change my area of practice. I could not stand there and do nothing. Politicians should not be determining what healthcare patients receive. And make no mistake, those SCOTUS “justices” are politicians. Vote blue 💙💙💙💙 to save American democracy.

Doctors and other upper level practitioners (NPs and PAs) are leaving those states. I have relatives in Idaho; their local hospital no longer has OB/GYN services because the MDs left. Women now have to go to the "nearest" hospital which is about 1:15 hour drive in good weather. In winter, they have to dive up and over icy winding mountain roads no matter which route they take 😢
