I was a kid in the 80s living in New york...ev Sunday Lt was on the tv or I was at the game...can't even explain how great this man was to people who didn't see him play every game...absolute game changer...I wouldn't have wanted Lawrence Taylor any other way than what he was...you did it right LT....you are forever THE pillar of defensive football....you were perfect ...all the on field and off field stuff are part of the gift you gave us ..you were just a guy living your life who was the best person to ever play his position . You never pretended to be above the fans or perfect....American legend

Exactly. I keyed on just him every play of every game of his career. I know a lot of us did that. I was there live in 86 for both playoff games and many others. This guy was the greatest nobody close. People don't understand and it has nothing to do with stats. He totally dominated offenses single handedly and gave as much effort as humanly possible on ever play

@@jonmolina948 a year I'll never forget...im a Yankee and Jets fan...but in 86 all of new york was rooting for that Mets team and giants team....there was so much to like about both teams...to this day I still love both teams even though as i said i root for the other new york teams....im sure if doc , Darryl, tyson, and LT were at studio 54 it was a blizzard....love all those guys though...ill never forget watching one of the Mets playoff games against the Astros that year and Keith hernandez is puffing cigarettes during the game...man I miss the 80s....quick sidenote...at my baseball camp that year , wally Backman came in to see us....all everyone asked him was about doc and Darryl... he told us some cool stories, but unfortunately kept it PG when I can only imagine the real shit

He played Center as a rookie when Kareem got hurt. That was unheard of back then. Bo Jackson-- Although his career was short lived due to injuries no one ever saw a man that size having that kind of speed and power. He also said football was a hobby. He probably would have been a football and baseball HOFer I'd he stayed healthy. Nolan Ryan-- He played baseball for 27 years and was still throwing 98 mph fastballs into his 40s He redefined the definition of power pitching and no one has come close to him since
