Everyone in the world wanted to be like America in the 1960s. Well dressed happy couples dancing here. After the so called Summer of love Woodstock, Kent State and the LA riots it walls all gone.

I always watched The Lawrence Welk Show when I was very young, from elementary school days through high school years. My parents loved the show and also went orchestra dancing with their friends. They were adults from WWII and we were baby boomers, my sister and I. My sister and I took dancing lessons back then. I dreamed of being a star, fantasies.

How wonderful this was to see a New Year’s Eve show again. I grew up with Lawrence Welk and the Lennon sisters. We always enjoyed their New Year’s Eve shows, and I still miss them every year. ❤🎉😅

Just perfection! Later on Welk had too many vocalists on the show. After 1977 the show took a turn that I didn't care for as much as these earlier shows. The Lennon Sisters were unquestionably the show's stars! I loved "The Blenders" quartet too! Barbara Boylan married Greg Dixon in 1967 and he was a real catch! That guy was gorgeous! But then Welk always had the prettiest girls and some of the most handsome men on television!

Watching this show now and have almost got this synchronized to the TV. Well, I am close. All I know of this show was it was broadcast 12/31/66 and Sunday was New Year’s Day, which meant the parade would be Monday. As far as what we did as a family, I have no recollection. I was in grade school, 6th grade, and folks rarely went out New Year’s Eve. Maybe a neighbor’s house, but that was never a regular thing. It was just another day at our house.
