Papa Stroll is going to face a lot of pressure from Aramco, Honda, maybe even Newey, if the 2026 or 2027 Newey car is Constructor's championship material in Alonso's hands, Lance is not delivering, and Verstappen becomes available. Not even Papa Stroll will say no to Max for Lance, especially when he knows that by then Alonso might retire in a couple of years anyway. He will just move Lance to WEC for a couple of years, secure Max, and when Alonso retires Lance can rejoin the team for another shot.

2:26 if I may speak on this, I don’t think Adrian Newey design will find its way to Aston Martin front engine cars. There’s just too much heritage there for Adrian to tamper with, and I can’t see any of it making its way to those cars unless in a smaller way. Rather, I believe Aston Martin will revive their mid engine car projects, and those will be the ones Adrian Newey influences, so cars like the mid engine Vanquish project (although it will surely be called something else now) could see the light of day that they couldn’t before Adrian Newey got involved, potentially with Honda V6 power as the original concept had (I know it was supposed to be an Aston Martin designed V6, but I don’t think that’s happening even if Adrian gets his way and revives the project successfully) Edit: also, 17:24 Charles Leclerc is too much of a Ferrari blowhard to drive for anyone other than the prancing horse. An all Spanish Alonso-Sainz lineup would be amazing, they'd be really close on track & they'd maximise AM's points every single weekend. They'd also be an excellent partnership to aim for the 2026 Constructors' and Drivers' titles. Yes, well technically, but they still technically do have a say, as a supplier, they can choose at least one driver. And usually the teams choose from Aston's factory to begin with as part of their deal. With this, they also get cheaper drivers as Aston helps pay the bill, same with engineers and whatever else, this is what it is to be a customer these days, you're still a factory in almost all but name, this is where the term pseudo-factory comes in. Factories want desperately for their representative customers to be successful, because it reflects well on them, so if a factory can help it, they won't be hands off if the customer requests support.

Pretty cool that Alonso offered a portion of his salary, because i was wondering if he would be willing to, since it's not like he actually needs the money at this point i presume, so why not, and indeed, he did. On the other hand, it is also pretty ridiculous that he would have to, just to "outbid" other people other than Lance for that last seat, but yeah, Newey might also be a deciding factor to move Lance out and Max in, it sure would please the future investors. Lawrence can still sell the team with like double the value that he put into it and feel proud of this hugely profitable financial gamble, and just has to accept (and Lance) that the Stroll era in F1 is over soon. It will only have a slight bitter taste for the Strolls because of Lance possibly never winning a race, but as a business venue they did a remarkable job, plus the possible lasting profits for the Aston brand in general. Even though i want to see Red Bull doing well, but yeah, i was never a Horner fan to begin with, and if things keep slipping like this, and if Max leaves as well, then there isn't much to be rooting for other than wishful thinking for some years. I might stay loyal, but i could also file for a divorce, it just depends on how bad it gets. I mean, they already stopped producing my beloved Cactus/Dragonfruit flavor, so they're on thin ice!

Sorry to disappoint you but I can’t see Max going to Aston as the team won’t be built around him. Don’t forget Lance is there and he is the anointed one in that team. There’s more chance of your boy Oscar going there I would say. No matter what McLaren say about him, he will be off as soon as he sees a better option for himself and, Aston would be just that. Oscar is single minded about winning as he has shown this season, so today after fp2 he is in p6, and super Lando is p17. So can’t see Oscar doing any favours for Norris can you? Yet again Norris has shown he really isn’t just good enough to be where McLaren think he is. Yes he is a good driver but he ain’t special. Where I think Oscar has show he is that talent. No way Mark Webber will allow Oscar to keep giving up position to Norris when Oscar is clearly the faster driver. Like Max he has the ability to drive fast and still be very aware of what is happening g elsewhere in the race. He also does not mess about regarding tyres swaps, he tells the team when he is coming in and what tyres he wants, Lando, has a conversation and asks for advice.

Hi Law, With the FIA adding a 4th DRS zone and slowing down the pit lane speed by 20kph and 6 curves being resurfaced, this is McLaren’s 1-2 to lose since the changes push the circuit right into their wheelhouse. Ferrari has had some trouble with Tyre management in these circuits and McLaren is really very good with their tyres. An additional pit stop for the tyre munchers like the RB20 will cost 28 seconds so figure a McLaren 1-2 and maybe Mercedes having a shot onto the podium.

Newey didn't need to go to AM for the money. He was going to retire years ago but knew he'd get bored. He doesn't need the money he's going to get. It wouldn't surprise me if it turns out that EJ just asked for it because of his percentage as his manager; or as a lark. Either is equally possible. It's the same with Max. He doesn't need a huge payday. He's already got enough to see him through to old age as a millionaire. As with Newey - and Hamilton - it's what will interest them all. I think the big money comes in as an indication of how serious the team management is taking their other interests (e.g. LH's projects). It's like the no brown M&Ms clause (can't remember the band ATM, damn it. Somebody tell me!) It wasn't because the band was being ridiculous, it was an immediate indicator for them to see how seriously their more important needs (rather than desires) for the concerts were being taken. Basically, I think there are some interesting projects in the pipeline!

Oh he did 100%. I watched the interview with him about moving to AM. The drama wasn’t the main reason, more so the straw the broke the camels back. Adrian loves Max though and said he’d be happy to work with him again in the future (I pray it’s WEC😭A team with Adrian, Fernando, Max, and someone else would be 🔥🔥🔥)

Hear me out: Newey's come in. Alonso Wins a 33rd race, wins Monaco for the 3rd time and his 3rd world title Alonso Goes to Wec and Wins Le Mans for a 3rd time. Then Aston and Alonso goes to Indy Car and Win the Indy 500 3 times. Fernando Alonso would have a Triple "Triple Crown".

Speaking as someone who's been following F1 for something like 45 years if WEC was more accessible on TV I'd certainly watch that instead. Hey, I might even see it live from time-to-time as for now the price of a ticket isn't F1 outrageous - it's been a very, very long time since I've been happy with much in the way of F1's cars or in the way the 'sport' has been going.

The problem is Lance as long as he's at that team, Aston will perpetually be held back by one seat and if Lance isn't going, I don't see Alonso going and that means no space for Max, even if he wanted the Aston seat and they wanted him.

For all we know red bull could come into next season with a great car. 2026 we definitely don’t know what’s gonna happen. I don’t think max jumps ship anytime soon for anything less than a McLaren seat which seems very unlikely
