The historian is totally wrong saying Napo is not from the Royal family. In Akan every individual belongs to two families, father's family as well as mothers family. But when it comes to finding a successor to a throne, we trace it to the mother's line. Napo is from the royal family by virtue of the father's blood running in him. But he cannot ascend to the throne because the mother is not from the family. He can only mount a throne in the mother's family. The fact that Otumfuor's children can't inherit/mount his throne doesn't mean they are not from the royal family.

Is it the case in Akan communities that your father's family members can look at you in the face and tell you that they don't know you because of the matrilineal system? Is it that simple as the historian wants us to believe? The akan system is an intricate one. It is like a pendulum it swings here and there depending on the situation. When it comes to inheritance and abusua it swings to the mother side but when it comes to who has the final authority over an individual in terms of who gives birth, naming, raising a child, giving lady's hand in marriage, etc the pendulum then swings to the father and his family. So it's a taboo for even your father's family to tell you that you do not belong because of the matrilineal system . Is it not the same glorification the historian is seeking by making reference to his father's family? Otumfour's sumankwaa hene does not necessarily come from the Oyoko family. There are positions like Gyasihene, Nsafoahene, Mpaboahene and many more in Manhyia but belong to different clans.So the historian should know the difference and not to throw dust in the eyes of the people.

Why didn't the historian search for where the mother comes from before making such conclusion. The fact that Napo may not be able to mount the Asante throne doesn't mean he is not a royal. Otumfuor's children can't mount the throne but that doesn't mean they are not from the Royal family. Blood is blood but when it is about looking for a successor to a stool it is then traced to women in the royal family. The historian is not entirely right.

CPP is now a dead political party. It's good if Lawyer would help revive it. However in doing that he shouldn't look down the pioneering role of the UGCC. Napo's statement did not insult Nkrumah or anyone. He only did a needless comparison. Napo comes from Manhyia but he's not a potential to inherit the golden stool Napo hasn't stated anywhere, that he comes from Manhyia. No, matter where we come from in Ghana, we're Ghanaians and that's the most important thing. CPP can't come back if they fail to accept this truth. Pls,Dagombas and Asantes are not brothers.They were closed because of the help the Asantes used to get from the Dagombas in terms of war. It's rather Manprusi, Dagombas,and Nanumbas who are brothers.Amongst the three above, the Manprusi man being the elder.In fact,the rest of us were not under the control of the Dagombas. All Akans, including the clans that formed Asante Union, first arrived in the North and it was Dagomba/dagbon people who host us. Our Akan ancestors lived them, inter-married, learned a lot from them for hundreds of years before they Descended southwest where most of us are today. Also during the Akan clans war with Denkyira for the freedom from Slavery, it was the Mosi/Dagomba and some defected Denkyira soldiers who Fought alongside with the Clans to defeat Denkyira. The Batakari worn by Yaa Asantewaa and all Akan warriors came from the North. Also In the past The Akans royals used to go to the North to Marry tall Northern women so that their offsprings will be taller. So we are closer to them than you think. You See since Asantes creation we have distorted all Akan customs, history, traditions, culture, to favor Asantes when everything they are practicing today comes from all Akans
