Very good video, have you been studying street epistemology? I think it would have been interesting to see how his placement on the scale would have changed if he was to grant for arguments sake that a plant based diet was nutritionally sufficient and healthy.

what a fascinating conversation.. I thought his recollection of the lobster was very moving, the claw coming out of the water when he lifted the lid.. I think personally I'd have massive amount of guilt if I'd done that. The fact that he recognised it and vowed he'd never do it again was refreshingly honest.

Once you step into the rabbit hole there is no turning back. Apparently this subject finally got attention of the mainstream. Our Dutch minister of agriculture has last week agreed to a request of the Party for the Animals that the practice of cooking lobsters and crabs alive must stop🙏💚. She is also going to try and get agreement on EU level. Finally times are changing. Still disturbing that someone seemingly emphatic like this lawyer still eats animals after the experience with the lobster. It was already traumatic to me only imagining it😥

Although I enjoy watching Jack’s videos I personally don’t think this conversational approach is as effective as when he was more direct. It is a nice chat but when he used to use the Socratic method more directly in specific scenarios , asking people to ‘name the trait’ etc people seemed to generally question their position. This guy for example summed it up- “nice conversation but it’s not going to change what I order in the Japanese restaurant.”
@lukedrewry65092 жыл бұрын
Totally agreed, for these conversations to have positive outcomes, it’s important to hold them to account for their actions. As soon as the conversation began to get uncomfortable Rick was quite sharp in letting Jack know his hands were cold and that he had to go soon, translation: he was beginning to become impatient and felt uncomfortable because his actions were close to being held to account.
@kaminosystem2 жыл бұрын
It might not change him this second, but being exposed to a different point of view over time/on multiple occasions is definitely a good tool for change that comes from within. I don't think it's always a good thing to pick apart every argument someone makes. That can make someone resentful - rather than curious to make an autonomous decision to change.

If there is a shock factor (like graphic videos) they may want to change in the moment, but that feeling will probably go away fairly quickly. Are we really natural meat eaters? The human body has alkaline saliva, sweat and urine. IT's the same for herbivores. Omnivores have acidic saliva, sweat and urine. Human brain runs on glycogen, not fats and proteins like omnivores. Our stomach capacity isn't nearly as llarge as true omnivores.
