Turnabout Visitor is, for me, the most underrated case in the series. It’s far from the objective best tutorial case (let alone case) but Portsman makes for a great rival, the twist about 28 minutes in is genuinely really good and it’s a good length, long enough to introduce the game mechanics but doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. Subjectively I also have a great time playing it and watching others play it

I agree. The first case of Investigations 2 is better, but Visitor is a good time! Usually tutorial cases rank low for me within the game because of how short they are, but in this case I'd rate it above case 3 and about the same as case 2. That's very good for a tutorial case! It does also show some of the flaws of Investigations 1, however, because there are two cases that are below or on par with the tutorial case. The game is overall kinda mid. Mid Ace Attorney, so still good fun, but mid nonetheless. Good thing Investigations 2 is freaking amazing, my favourite game in the series and completely saves the duology though!

​@@SolMasterzzz I consider visitor the fifth best tutorial case, behind what I consider the ”golden four tutorial cases” (found in Trials & Tribulations, Apollo Justice, Investigations 2 and DGS / TGAA 2). I agree Investigations 1 has mid level cases, even case 4 - the best in the game - is mostly carried by two of the characters (won’t say who now in case it counts as a spoiler). Investigations 2 is the 2nd best AA game for me, barely beaten by The Great Ace Attorney 2, the quality of writing in the latter is too good for me

I think it was a bit we cut, but someone was saying that this game has a custom fail cutscene for each case, and we joked that if you failed the investigation, Phoenix has to solve the case in court 😅

28:26 So the Investigations cases often do this bit at the end where you get one or several logic dots at once and then you solve all of the ones you still had lying around in one chain reaction. Bit of a precursor to the Thought Route you see in Dual Destinies. Fans have lovingly nicknamed these moments "Edgeworth's logicgasm." ...This one's still rather modest, of course, it being the first case, but just wait till he gets going. Also, Ace Attorney games routinely have two variants of the testimony & cross-examination themes, always named Moderato and Allegro. The Investigations games bump it up a notch by going up to Presto (39:03), _usually_ reserved only for the very last confrontation. It's hype every time.

The reason he didn’t bring that up, is because Edgeworth knew what he was doing. He was using the fact that Manfred Von karma was his mentor to get inside Edgeworth’s head, or at least try to.

Miss Manners had a whole chapter on getting your victims' names before killing them, because it ensures you've gotten the correct target. Killing the wrong person is simply the height of bad form! There's actually way more of those cases, for that's just because all of the cases in the Ace Attorney universe have such a code. We just only see the important ones for the "X years ago" trope the series likes to do... a lot.

Great job with that final logic deduction, Zak. I was really worried for a minute there =) I sort of love how the series parodies itself with the LettetLetter-Number Incident thing at this point. Plus, they pretty much always wind up ultimately being interesting and meaningful events. The Dark Age of the Law bit got a good laugh out of me! RETURN OF THE EDGEWORTH DANCE!!!!!!!

My question to this case is... no one question why is everyone in the office 2AM?? Besides the security, we have Portsman, Buddy, the detectives in criminal affair, and Edgeworth going to the office around this time before the incident and no one question it. And after the incident, Payne woke up and went there just to see what is happening? 😂 (they are investigating aroung 3 to 5 AM!) Like they don't kinda... sleep? That aside, I loved this game and will anxiously wait when you play it fullthrough 💕

47:28: I would say Gumshoe's would also be on there after getting the tape from Portsman without gloves, and Edgeworth's from when he spun it around and examined it. They really should be more carefull when handling evidence.

30:25 You're well past that point now, but "there are only two" reminded me of the chuckle I had when I got past the logic tutorial and a toast popped up saying "For successfully making a connection during Logic without using Story Mode". I'd heard that some achievements are only available without story mode and figured whatever, it's nice that story mode is there at all for people who want it and I don't care either way about wanting to draw that line. But when there's an achievement you get for free within 10 minutes of booting up the game, THAT is fucking silly, lol.

You get an achievement just for using the "HD" sprites and starting a case, that's the most 'free' one. Almost 1/2 of them are simply given for 'making progress without using Story mode', while most of the remaining ones are for doing specific interactions within each case. Like... examining something while a certain character is with you, or finding/talking to someone you wouldn't normally speak to. Typically these are only available within a small window of time too.

@@King_Luigi Yeah like, if someone cares about drawing a line on what should be available in story mode, it makes sense to me that they'd draw it there. General progress is what you let the game take over when you put on that mode, while finding easter eggs is the same with or without it, all down to whether you interact with an irrelevant background detail. You're right that the "start the game without turning off the default sprites" one is even more free to get. I'd be hard pressed to even classify that as an easter egg, I guess more than anything else they wanted to thank people for using the updated graphics with a little toast notification. But what I'm specifically aiming at is that "making one connection during Logic" seems really silly to put in the "these can't be available in Story Mode" box when it's something you pass by just being introduced to that mechanic, no need to actually make a decision on what nodes to connect. Kind of undercuts the idea that there's a reason to disable some achievements at all. I suppose since later cases aren't locked when you boot up the game, technically you can skip the first one and not get that achievement until you actually have to make a decision that it's time to connect two logic nodes... but still.
