They also do some really great funny videos, while being magnificent. All about that bass, butts remix, country fried pop Medley, champagne taste on a beer budget. Mind blowing harmony & exquisite talent, How great thou art, blue ain't your color, do you hear what I hear, o holy night. When they do covers, it's really best to be familiar with the original, just to see how they are KNOWN for putting the famous "Home Free Spin" on everything they do. New sub after seeing this, looking for more Home Free. Ring of Fire, Johnny Cash cover, but the sing off version is best. 🥰

I actually liked the original version from the movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" By Dan Tyminski, but in the movie it was sang by the fictional "Soggy Bottom Boys", led by George Clooney. It is actually a really good movie by the Coen brothers, based loosely on Homer's "The Oddessy".

I am very eclectic with music. I can usually find something exceptional in any genre to enjoy, but I have to say that the new a cappella is not you grandparents Barber Shop variety. There are 3 groups who have refined this genre past the old school. 1) Home Free ~ cross any genre but with a different take on Country, R&B, Pop, Gospel, Rock, and yes even Christmas music. 2) Pentatonix ~ Pop, Evo, Christmas Music unique versions of popular music. 3) Voice Play ~ Disney music (complete with costume and theatrical presentation), Pop, Unique Genres like Viking Sea Shanty adaptations, and Themes from movies. All 3 of these groups have unique styles and takes on main stream music. The harmonies are all on point and as a whole surprising. You never know what surprises are in store, even if they all at some time may cover the same song, it's like 3 amazing presentations that are completely satisfying listening that stand successfully on their own. Ivory, prepare to discover a whole new a cappella that will definitely surprise and hopefully delight you. For Christmas, I would suggest Home Free's "Do You Hear What I Hear", Pentatonix"s "Mary Did You Know" and Voice Play's "Mission: Jingle Bells"

"I don't like a capella". My thoughts--"Just wait until you hear good a capella". Home Free is fabulous and I can recommend anything of theirs. There are several other really great a capella artists you might want to check out. Voice Play is great, Pentatonix is wonderful, Voctave is beyond compare (11 members and the chords and harmonies are out of this world), and Peter Hollens is wonderful as well (does solo work and duets with others; but don't let that stop you; Peter is the master of overdubbing and he does a lot of harmonizing with himself). You should really check out Peter Hollens with Tim Foust (the bass singer you heard here) doing a cover of "Misty Mountains" from "the Hobbit". It's incredible. It's just the two of them but it sounds like a full choir because of the overlaying of Tim's and Peter's voice.

THIS IS A DEEP RABBIT HOLE THAT YOU NEED TO DELVE INTO YOURSELVES, BUT BELIEVE ME, IT WILL TAKE AWHILE. THEY DO NOT HAVE A LEADER, OR MAIN LEAD SINGER. THEY ALL SING LEAD ACCORDING TO WHAT THE SONG CALLS FOR. "BYE. BYE, AMERICAN PIE" WITH DON MCLEAN , THE ORIGINAL SINGER OF THE SONG IS A GOOD SONG FOR YOU TO PLAY NEXT. THEY HAVE SANG WITH KENNY ROGERS, JEWEL, THE OAK RIDGE BOYS, DON MCLEAN, AND SO MANY OTHERS. YOU JUST HAVE TO EXPLORE THEIR MATERIAL.I ABSOLUTE LOVE THEM. EACH ONE BRINGS A VERY SPECIAL QUALITY TO THE GROUP AND THEY ALWAYS SEEM TO HAVE SO MUCH FUN TOGETHER! THEY DO CONCERTS AND HAVE TOURED ALL AROUND THE WORLD. THE FOLLOWERS ARE CALLED "HOMEFRIES". Home Free is the winner of Season 4 of NBC's The Sing-Off which is a competition for A Capella vocal bands, so musical instruments are NOT allowed. Although Home Free represented themselves as "country" a Capella, their albums include various genre, i.e. R&B, anthems, gospel, pop and so on. Thanks for reacting and appreciating HF. Pls check out their other songs.

'Man of Constant Sorrow' is a blue grass song written by Dick Burnett of Kentucky & first published around 1913. It's been covered many times, but most people now know it from the movie 'O Brother, where art thou'. Home Free's cover is my personal favorite - by a wide margin.

I started falling in love with a Capella groups about 3 years ago, and never looked back.....just the skill alone, in creating instruments like in a band, with just their voices, sets these groups apart from all the rest, and their skills are beyond mention! Another thing I also appreciate as well, is they are able to cross genres with ease, as in the case, where Home Free is generally Country, they can also do soul, rock pop, opera, and everything in-between. I would love you to check out their version of Johnny Cash’s, Folsom Prison Blues, just so you can see their versatility 😊

I found these guys last year. This was the first song I ever heard from them & I was instantly hooked & became a homefry. The talent of these 5 men is insane. Together they are a perfect fit & complement each other so well. There bass singer Tim Foust is the best in the business & Adam Rupp their beatboxer extraordinaire can make any sounds & is in a class by himself. Enjoy the journey into their talent, skill & humor.

You might get buried in requests for more Home Free songs. They have a large and loyal fan base and a deep selection of songs. Some are covers, some are original, all are good. A more contemporary covers they did were "End of the Road" and "When a man loves a woman". A more theatrical group of a capella singers is Voiceplay. Check out their mashup of "Moana" featuring Rachel Potter. A more conservative a cappella group is Pentatonix. They do an excellent job on "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Hallelujah". They are all exceptional. I'm a new sub

"Man of Constant Sorrow" is a classis C/W song that dates back to the 1920s. Home Free is an a cappela group that specializes in C/W songs, but have proven themselves adept at a multitude of genres. Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, has won international competitions in his craft. All members have degrees in music, and all take turns singing lead. Tim Foust, the bass, has a 5-octave range, having been originally trained as a tenor - he's obviously maintained his upper registers. I encourage you to listen to their other videos, and would like seeing your reactions to them. The group is worth following.

I really love Home Free, and first saw them on the show The Sing Off... and I really recommend watching the episode where they perform Ring of Fire. The official version that they did featuring Avi Kaplan is great, but there is something about watching the first performance of it is even better. They are really such a fun group to watch and I always love to recommend their Butts Medley if you want to laugh while you listen. I add my support to the comments that you shouldn't watch Mayday (It is fantastic too) until you have seen more of their work to see how they 'normally' perform, and then Mayday shows you the range that they all have.

The Vocal Percussionist is Adam Rupp, cofounder of the group. There are videos of him doing a "DRum Solo" that he does during the concerts. The most reacted to is about 6 years old and he is wearing red flannel...he has only gotten better. Their latest, Working for a living, he has a major Harmonica solo. Also, the live version of 9 to 5, there is a beatboxing breakdown where they all beat box. The sound you are talking about is a jaw harp...and Adam Chance (pictured at the end) is the one making it. The reason I like Adam and his percussion is because he is true to regular drums...and doesn't overdo it with gimicky stuff...

My husband's objection to a cappella music is that it typically sounds "empty" to him. Home Free does an amazing job of sounding like a band, vs a group of guys singing together. Ivory, I know you loved the beatboxing, but if you want to hear their amazing harmonies listen to their version of Helplessly Holing where all five of them sing.
