When my husband and I were buying our house, we divided the contract in half and started reading. Then, when we were finished we swapped and each read the entire contract. The finance company people were surprised; they told us we were about the only people who took the time to read the entire sales contract. My husband insists on reading any and all paperwork that comes with anything we buy, and I've decided he knows what he's doing.

“Its standard” seems to be the usual line

I was part of an online group. I did a free class for them. They asked me to sign a waiver so they could post the class on their site. Included was a line about me giving their organization perpetual rights and use to the class in part or whole. They could also edit the class and include any part of it in any future work. I declined.

Ive worked in pest control for years and bed bugs are extremely expensive to treat. You saved thousands and likely 10s of thousands

Being locked out of your job because of non-compete is perfectly fine. As long as you're paid for the time you're locked out as if you were working so you don't lose any money.

That non compete clause would not hold up legally, you can’t bar someone from working in their field

I am so confused by people only looking at reviews after reading the contracts for holidays etc. why would you not have looked at reviews first?

@10:50 that's called a prepayment penalty and really is standard practice across the industry 🤷

It seems standard practice is code for the standard scam.

Thing is, just because something is in a contract doesn't mean it's legal or enforceable. The contract that waived liability for all injuries? That's not going to hold up in court (you'd be going there anyway) even if you signed it. Also, the photographer was not quite right when it came to reproducing pictures. It's not industry standard, it's copyright law. The photographer owns the rights to the photographs they take. Back in the day where you had to get film developed, people would routinely be told they couldn't just make copies of their own wedding photos. They can sell that right, but they don't have to.

WTF? Why do you keep cutting words short? Annoying.
