Now we just need to see the PeopleMover testing! 😊

Thanks for the video update! Glad to see train testing through the LAX/Metro Transit Center running smoothly. The reason a train you saw stopped in the corridor’s middle siding track, did not make the crossing gates go down, and ultimately reversed because that train is a C Line train which terminates at LAX/Metro Transit Center. In order for the train to switch operators and change directions back to Norwalk at the LAX/Metro Transit Center, the train pulls up to a middle siding track north of the station and south of Arbor Vitae Street (where you saw the train stopped). This is an efficient way for C Line trains to change directions as trains will less likely delay K Line trains which share the same corridor. Hope that clears it up!

Usage issue is due to inconvenience and lack of security/safety. Try using the system, and you will see. I’ve shared metro elevators with vagrant’s who have setup camp there. It takes me 3x to 4x to get to DTLA than driving a car (need the LAX station up and running soon please). C line ends a mile from MetroLink - I rode my bike between to try it, and there are no good bike lanes. The train drivers allow non-paying people to sleep on the train ( up front next to the drivers) all day long. A little planning, coordination and pride in the system would go a long way in creating a world class transportation system that would be enjoyed by all.

It’s absurd that they need to do the same amount of testing for ONE STATION as they do for an entire line. Open the goddamn thing already.

I don't know if you can tell, but does it look like the wildfires caused much in the way of delays in the completion of the station?

I doubt it. The only issue could be the air quality for workers outside. I'm sure if there was an air quality issue, they would ask workers to wear masks.

12,000 homes burned. Some of those people worked at Metro and on rail.

@@MrChrislechner1 First off, there was not 12000 homes burned. It was roughly 7500. The rest were commercial buildings, schools, etc.

after that they should extend the LAX people mover in both directions.
@hockeyplayer2811 күн бұрын
Are you kidding me?? LAXWA (who built the LAX people mover) spent $3.6 Billion for a 2.1 mile tram that's not even underground. By comparison, Kansas City built their entire new airport for $1.7 Billion. Restrict budgets for agencies until they are tied to incentive plans to build at a reasonable cost.

Los Angeles needs money to recover from the fires. I propose a 10% budget cut to Metro's $9.3 Billion annual budget for the next 3 years to fund the rebuilding since we can't depend on the Federal Government. Only 6% of the County is using Metro's current systems so we can afford to redirect the funds to accelerate the recovery for the fire victims.
@rockyroad-hq7hz12 күн бұрын
State and federal funding is allocated based on category. The State House or Federal legislative budget is pre-assigned to those needs in that category. ie... Transportation, Commerce, Homeland Security, agriculture... ect.. when states get that funding, they can't redirect it somewhere else. Otherwise, they lose that funding. For instance, if California doesn't want to build a border wall. That funding has to be given back. Then the second closes bider like Texas gets to extend their border wall. California would be stupid to not finish up their transportation projects. Because next year that funding may not be available. This is political science 101. If you're government illiterate, or never gone to school!!
@mastahfrederique114712 күн бұрын
Take that money from LAPD. The 6% of the county that uses the metro is largely the 6% of the county that has no other way to get around. Besides, $930 million would be a miniscule fraction of the money needed to rebuild from the fires.
@mrxman58112 күн бұрын
That's not how city budgets work. The money for public transit needs to be used for public rransit, especially the funds from voter approved transit measures. Besides, the vast majority of property owners in the Palisades are very well insured and have very high income. What the city will do is help with rebuilding the utilities infrastructure. It's the people in Altadena that will need the most help, but that's not LA city's problem. Of course the county will help rebuild the infrastructure there, too. The city of Altadena will need to get outside funding. Hopefully, from the federal government since that's the biggest pot available.
