woah this one sounds way louder and abrasive than on the album, and the slower tempo really makes it more intense and dramatic.

i like how at 0:36 matt completely misses the note and it actually works really well

that's matt for you. everyone makes fun of his isolated vox, but there's magic in those shitty notes

i love how rivers adds in a few more fancy little guitar riffs in.

i like growing... but for me i think matt sharp was a pretty integral part of weezer. his touches on the first few albums really made them something special.

Whole thing is played better. . . warmer, and the intro is different and the end of the solo. Fresh guitar lines is a big part of what makes this version great.
@gryffindork567 Жыл бұрын
Often when Rivers plays live, he always has distortion on, and turns his volume knob on his guitar down for clean parts. That's how he gets that great warm tone. At the beginning of the second verse, you can't hear his guitar, but then it suddenly clips in. I think that he turned his volume knob too low by mistake and then turned it back up.

I really don't understand why people hate new weezer. Every artist needs to grow, to change style. If they'll always remain the same then everybody will forget about them, it's like the bubblegum. It's tasty in first 10 minutes, but then it's just the normal gum.

Hey dude, i am not disagreeing with you but just because it has 4 chords it doesnt make it bad. Say it aint so has 4 chords(it only changes in the bridge, but that doesnt matters) im just saying that complexity does not equal good
@gabrielkramer6 жыл бұрын
They could make simple songs but good ones though
@KCgrunge6 жыл бұрын
dude the fuck youre talking about? first off, 4 chord music is not automatically bad and "complex" music is not automatically good, music is not math, so leave that hipster purist bullshit to yourself second, youre saying they are playing 4 chord "pop music" but their music was pretty simple to start with? youre contradicting yourself

I love how he never really had a proper clean tone during this era, alls he had was the amps distortion, a wah pedal, and a boost. Along with the black ice module.

You're both wrong. There's nothing "extra fancy" about it, however it is different than the original version. Notice he plays that little "solo" thing an extra time in this version, at the end of the intro.

lol i agree, although i do admit i was actually into the red album, it kinda reminded me of pinkerton on a few songs. i just think matt sharp added a certain magic to the band that hasn't been emulated yet, which is a shame.
