We always forget that despite what she acts and looks like, a party of 4 took care of the demon king and their mage is taking an exam she's overqualified for. Her bag is definitely deeper than anyone in the series. The people who defeated her in a magic battle were a case of match up issues

Match up issue only work if both mage only specialize in one kind of magic. Frieren is not. Her opponent is probably the one that experienced match up issue fighting Her. She can't defeated Qual. That's not a matchup issue.
