Thanks! This smaller one is cute.The A-H3000 used engine oil, non-detergent spec but probably not used as it was hard to find even in the mid 60's. The solenoid adjustment says use a pin through a hole in the lever. It may not be aligned right using the pin & holes, so go by whether the solenoid actually lifts the valve, a ball bearing pushed by a rod on mine, a spool valve, the rod, on yours!!!!! Line up the inner splines on the 2 pieces by sight, then with the main-shaft before bolting it together to compress the springs! Also, don't use STP as lube for the pump's cam & roller! it will skid & wear them out! Very surprised by ALL the sludge, then again mine was only 5 years old. Good Luck.

It really is, but after doing the gearbox Im not as intimidated as I would have been before.

mine is a J type... i hope to never open it up.

It isn't all that scary. Just need to be really clean on the reassembly. It is amazing how much gunk was in this thing.
