Confused about the theory that johnnys memories were altered or faded over time. Johnny has digitally backed up memories, not an organic brain. His memories shouldnt fade or change with time like ours would. How did he know about smashers attack on the roof if he was already dead? How did he know the very top secret info that saburo reveals to him (in japanese), stating that soulkiller can be used to extract info from its victims? We only learn this if we send jackie to vic. Takemura later informs us that arasaka stole jackies body and was capable of extracting info by making an incomplete construct from jackies corpse. As far as i know, this is the only time we learn of this. Not everything adds up. Makes more sense that the game took liberties and did its own thing.

There is a huge gap between the creation of his engram and the time of 2077. It's also a fact his engram was under the possession of Angel from Black Dog and Arasaka. It's a stated fact engrams can be altered, so to assume neither party did anything with the engram is a miscalculation. It's also not top secret that they can extract info. It was known amongst corporations and netrunner circles that Arasaka would commonly capture and interrogate engrams for info. As for memories fading, it would be less to do with memory degradation and more to do with the tech being corrupted by the nuke going off and any tampering afterward.

I feel like absolute peak v is the best merc of all time, he doesn’t have the legend of black hand but I like to think of game characters like that in cannon as if you can do it in game then it’s reasonable to use it as canon because it’s atleast a possible outcome, so that means you defeat over a dozen cyber psychos while holding back as to not kill them, run a number of successful gigs of varying difficulty for the top fixers in night city, tango with all the top corps in a number of ways, defeat oda who is one of the strongest in all of arasaka, defeat Adam smasher, solo arasaka tower, and live to tell the tale, it’s still up in the air whether the chip will kill him after that but atleast he can say it wasn’t his enemies
